I'm having my first ever birthday party on Saturday and while I don't normally start my cycle until around the 17th, I'm getting my cramps early and I know for a fact that I'll start within the next 2 days. I have endometriosis and every single month about 4 days before I start my period, I get really bad cramps. This is how I KNOW it's going to happen. And knowing my luck...it'll be Saturday afternoon.
I really want to delay my period for at least a day or 2. I can't wear tampons and we're supposed to be swimming, etc. PLUS I'll be in sooooo much pain. I don't have insurance and I'm NOT on the pill. I need emergency help, quick. Have any suggestions?

I'm not on the pill because I don't have insurance...and even if I did, it just makes my endo worse - and so does a tampon. Bananas don't help with endo cramps - neither does midol. I was diagnosed with it 7 years ago and have tried everything in the book to get rid of the pain...nothing.

That is tricky. I don't know of any other way to stop your period besides manipulating bc pills. As far as the tampon thing goes, can you ever tried Instead? I'm assuming you don't use tampons b/c of the dioxin, if thats the reason Instead does not carry the same risk. They stay in for a pretty long time so that also helps. As far as pain, I wish I had a good answer. I have pain pills I take for the pain and unless you could get your hands on a few, if it starts before the party, crank a heating pad up all of the way and lay down with it for awhile-also go in the jacuzzi if there is one where your going. When your out of the water maybe try a few of those thermacare heat wraps? Sorry I don't have better suggestions, but having endo and killer cramps I know your frustration. Unfortunately like you said, over the counter stuff is not effective. Good luck!

Sorry hun! You can't delay your period. Your period comes because of your hormones and you cant control it! The only way to stop it would be to take the pills. But idn if this will work... but if you can't use a tampon (i had this problem on vacation) you could try to do what i did. bring a bag and wear a pad to the party then b4 you guys go swimming run into the bathroom... pull the pad off and sprint into the pool.... when your in water... you stop bleeding. then when you guys all get out of the pool joke and be like 'oops i mustve drank too much' and run back to the bathroom and put another pad in. thats what i did and dont forget to wrap a towel around you when your running back and forth (Just incase!) another thing you could try is trying the tampon. if it wont go in put vasiline on the tip and aim for your lower back, or ***. lol sorry if none of these tips work :( but i hope you either find a way to work it or not get your period until your party is over! lyl! and on the best answer even if its not me.. will you post what you did and how it turned out! <3

I relate to your problem, dear. But unfortunately, without the aid of birth control pills, there is no way to delay your period. I have endometriosis myself; the pain that comes along 2-3 days before your period actually shows up is an accurate predictor. My best advice is to just load up on ibuprofen and hope for the best. You may not be able to swim under those conditions if you can't wear tampons, but as women we are always sacrificing something.
Just curious.. why can't you use tampons? That would solve the entire problem.

Sorry but if your period is due this soon there is nothing to prevent it from coming. Even thinking ahead and doing something early enough might not stop your period from coming.
Have you tried a moon/diva cup? I hear they work as well (though it sounds gross). Its either that, tampons (which you can't use) or no swimming.
Sorry!
The only other suggestion is talk to a doctor.

Tink, you cannot tinker with mother nature. You'll have to deal with the situation as it is. Anything you could do to cause delay of any natural process is very unhealthy. I'm sorry it's on your birthday. The timing is awful. I hope it will delay naturally so you can enjoy your day.

There's nothing you can do without 'the pill'. The 'pill' usually helps with endometriosis, why aren't you on it? You don't need insurance to get on 'the pill'.
Anyways, why can't you wear tampons? Have you ever tried a menstrual cup? Something like the Diva Cup or Keeper might be good for you. You still have to insert it, but many women who don't like tampons love menstrual cups. I don't know where you live, so I don't know if you can get one in your area by Saturday.

I really don't think there's anything you can do for that. It's nature. Or it could be detrimental to your health, such as stressing yourself out somehow, which sometimes delays periods.
Sometimes things like that just happen.

No, there really isn't a way to delay it other than the pill, or a certain kind of pill (forget the name) that you can get from your OB that will delay it.

that i know of, nothing - notta....
mother nature comes and goes when she wants.
the only thing i can say is see if you can go to a health dept. and get on birth control. however, birth control doesn't really delay your period, but rather shorten it.
sorry, there's not much you can do... but, the b/c would be your only bet right now.
