I hear you - loud and clear.
It seems there was a time when people came here and learned English, got hooked on the good life and actually became Americans. We didn't cater to them with multi language signs, posters, directions and packaging - we didn't need to because they learned the language and it wasn't necessary because the PC police weren't kissing their azzes to try and get more votes.
It's really simple - if you want to come to America - learn the language and customs - if you want to bring the old country with you, just stay home, it's a lot easier that way.

Why is it that the people who disagree with this post all resort to name calling? It's ironic that someone would question someone's intelligence by calling them a name :-) I imagine that irony is lost on some of you lol... I've travelled a lot too including a year in Europe and two years in India. I don't disagree with the content of this post at all. What I see in Canada is a distinct change in the culture of the country. People here don't necessarily love this country, they just live here. Asian people live here, brown people over there, black over there.... Multiculturalism emphasizes people's differences rather than commonalities between us all. I think a lot of recent immigrants see through that crap too... It seems mostly average white people who are angry at their parents support most of this crap :-) A couple Indian friends of mine were saying the other day that they want to move out of Brampton when they're done school because it's all "brown" people. They both said they wanted to raise there kids around white kids so they grow up like them. I don't know exactly what that means but it does tell you that they don't have much interest in maintaining their parent's culture but rather in becoming "Canadian" whatever that means today.

I wasn't aware Canada had a culture other than a multicultural one. Quebec culture is completely different than Nunavut culture which is completely different from BC's culture. And that's without factoring in all the different cultures that immigrants bring in. You do realise that since confederation we have been a multicultural country. That it was the Chinese and Japanese immigrants that built the railroad under John A McDonald (and were treated very poorly at that). As a matter of fact, did you know that unless you're a pure blood Native American or Inuit your family also immigrated to this country at one point? Look it up, it's true!
I agree, I think western culture is superior to the Taliban (which isn't so much a culture as it is a terrorist group, but hey, who am I to judge) but that's because western culture is generally an accepting culture while the Taliban is trying to destroy the NATO troops. The only argument I can see you making about most of the countries you listed above being at all inferior is their lack of tolerance towards other culture's and their terrible human rights records. Seems to me that attacking Immigrants isn't exactly the way to prove we're better.
And finally, because this post is turning out to be much longer than I expected, what do you propose? Deporting anyone who doesn't have blonde hair and blue eyes? Stop allowing immigrants to enter our country even though because of a low birth rate and our baby boom population we are desperately in need of them?
No one's saying you have to be Politically Correct, but tolerance is always appreciated. I think racism and hatred are caused more by xenophobic pricks who are afraid of anyone that's different than it is by the immigrants themselves. If someone is prejudiced against you for, I don't, wearing glasses, is it your fault that you have to wear glasses or is their fault because they're so insecure themselves that they need to take it out on others.

I think I have to agree. I've travelled through most of the world and except for Europe, North America, etc... it's pretty screwed up and that's not to say we have it all figured out here. There is a lot of gang violence in Toronto, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary etc. and it does seem to break down along cultural lines. It seems like your question/statement hit a few nerves and maybe it's them who aren't willing to be honest with themselves? When you poke a hole in somone's blinders, sometimes you get the eye!

I think you express a growing feeling in the US. Enough already! Arrive legally and pull your weight. Don't ask me if I want to speak Spanish on the phone and ditch the non English ballots. Nobody would do that for us on their soil. Now they want to give free health care to illegal kids. I volunteer in a clinic that serves the poor uninsured and they have massive problems that are addressed only by volunteer Drs and nurses, pharmacists, social workers- not the government. Miami is already a Hispanic city and others are heading that way. I have no quarell with Latinos as my grandchildren are half Puerto Rican. If you live here you must obey our laws, speak the language and be loyal to the nation. I do not agree that one culture is necessarily superior to another- if it works for them it's ok with me.

Had enough 20 years ago but fools are in politics and leading us into fake philosophies that will never work! Disgusting right! Have an Arab Christian girlfriend and I asked her why I can't become citizen in her country of Egypt and she just looked at me and said America is only Immigration friendly country and changed the subject! How is this fair and why are we forever going to be Immigrant friendly when we have no Americans left?

If your country is so great why is it inviting qualified people from all over the world to live there? Because they need them and because there aren't enough people over there to do what's needed or maybe because people from abroad are better than the locals, who are just wealthier than migrants. PC is not a gesture towards minorities, look at what black people in the US did to win over the right to be treated respectfully. If countries are PC is because when ignorant people like you try to forget why some things are in place and make dumb remarks, riots break out. Whether in LA or in Paris, PC helps a society be peaceful. It surprises me to hear such comments from someone in a former English colony, English people are more cosmopolitan and enjoyed contact with other cultures in places like Hong Kong, Cairo, Bombay... to mention a few. They got along well and loved and admired other people's habits (where do you think they got the habit of drinking tea? maybe you think Saxons and Normans came up with that). The problem is not multiculturalism but people who don't understand politics and don't know history, like you. And it's ok to say that.

Yes. The UK invaded every nation on the map. I'm tired of their multicultural-armies invading other nations, then crying that "my culture" is at risk. Hilarious...
How many Brits are in the Middle East at this very moment? Why were French troops in Vietnam which sparked the war? Why did not-so-Great Britain invade the Middle East and create an artificial border called Iraq? When will the UK get out of Ireland? What was up with the French Foreign Legion and that water boy who helped them? Why did British soldiers brutalize the nation of India? What was that Apartheid thing all about in South Africa? Why did it take a Revolution to get not-so-Great Britain out of the USA? The UK is guilty of more international atrocities then all of the terrorist groups combined. Cry me a river...

Just stay inside; I'm not sure you're ready to deal with reality.
Have you shunned people of other cultures? Have you gotten to know any of them? I have Pakistani neighbors across the street and Indian neighbors next door. They watch each others' houses when they go on vacations. Ultimately, people are people and all that most of us really want to do is get along. But I would say people like you make that more difficult.

The height of the pc insanity here in the USA was during Bill Clinton's regime. It thoroughly divided this country and now everybody hates eachother. It was nothing like that before, him.
