My 98Honda CBR F3 600 is missing the chain guard and center stand. How important is the chain guard? I ride mostly local and highway in the midwest?
Where can I get a nice and cheap after market chain guard for my bike?
THanks

I needed one to pass my annual state safety inspection.(NH)
Which meant I had to find it.

Depends which one you mean... if you mean the plastic one that is mostly just to prevent grime from being flung up on to you and the bike, if the chain snaps it will probably rip that thing right off anyway, although I'm sure it does offer some protection. If you mean the metal one that keeps your foot from going in, well, it's kinda important if your foot ever heads in that direction lol. Some people bend heel guards to make extra chain guards that prevent a hand of foot from going between the chain and sprocket at the bottom. You just bend the mounting part 90 degrees and drill and tap the bottom of your swingarm.

CBR's don't have center stands... only side stands

I took off my chain guard on the R1 but when it comes time to lube the chain, it gets the black, sticky lube on the (white) under tail and I have to take the time to clean it off with wd40.
I see so many different types of custom chain guards on ebay.
From carbon fiber to fancy colored aluminum ones. They are not cheap though.

VERY important..!!!
For all the reasons the 1st 2 answerers gave you. It is a safety factor. Have fun, but stay as safe as you can while doing it...
