Leno is a good textbook comedian.
Kimmel is good one liner, finish sentence and situation comedian.
O'Brien's comedy is definitely silly. No doubt about it. He's not that great, but he is very good at self degradation and being silly.
Letterman is the hardest for people (especially those under 40) to understand, that is why so many people think he is rude. The best way to describe Letterman would be to say that his demeanor is more old style like from the 60's, and his humor is off topic in a serious fashion. He tries to embarrass his guests in a serious manner not a joking manner, but really he IS joking. He is very complacent about everything. The best way to describe David Letterman is that he is a person who does things in a serious manner, but as a joke. And he does that well.
I don't know that much about Craig Ferguson, I don't watch him that much, but when I do watch him, I see that he is more of a sitcom jokester. He says things that are stereotypical of sitcoms. But he makes it pretty good.
My favorite style would have to be David Letterman though, I feel his is the most smooth and cool.

He is far more into his job.. Jay is old and washed up.. Conan is just wierd and goofy and Letterman... well, he is 1st runner up.
