Drums.
They control the rhthym of most bands. Without them the bassist cant time his piece properly which effects the lead and then the vocalist.
So if you want control go for the drums.
But you wont get the chicks.

I love both instruments and have respect for all who play them but I would have to go with the guitar, the possibilities are endless and I play a little.
But lets not forget that drums add the much needed bass to the song.
