I HAVE A ATI Radeon X600XT in my Intel 915J 'Lakewood' mobo, with WindowsXP Home, and it works great, of course it only has for 3yrs now! Do you have the RIGHT driver? Did you download it from the actual vid card maker? Remove the driver, turn the computer off, unplug it, remove the vid card. Power the computer back up, install the driver. Turn the computer off, unplug it, put the vid card back in, power it back up. If it is indeed the correct driver, your OS should recognize it. In Windows this happens sometimes because some people install the vid card first then the driver. As soon as you install a new piece of hardware Windows will kill itself tryin' to find a suitable driver. Doesn't work, you need the manufacturer's driver, hence the instructions to load driver first. Other OS'es are pretty much the same, except for Linux, as it was made for those who like to program, and are generally advanced computer users,(not ME!, I use WindowsXP)
