They sure will make the playoffs. You can't ignore what Homer has done to change the team around! I think they will make it into the playoffs easily. However i dont think they are going to be a high seed. It all depends how well the new players adapt with each others playing style. I think their chemistry will be good. Now i dont think they will make it to the finals, they still have areas to improve on but you still have to remember that they are in a rebuilding process. Its still going to be amazing how well they will bounce back from their worst season in franchise history though! And the person who said the Flyers have to contend with the Isles and the Devils is a moron!!!! Both teams had a terrible offseason. Also by saying they rebuilt the team the wrong way through trades and not by prospects is wrong! Most of the players aquired through these trades are still very young and not to mention a very good prospect was aquired with Ryan Parent. Also you can't forget they have Claude Giroux and Steve Downie moving up fast through the system who will be huge players for the team! With all that being said the next few years will be exciting to watch the Flyers and they will be playoff contenders for years to come!!!!

No. Honestly. They were DEAD LAST in the league last season. It's not like they were the Canadians, Hurricanes, Panthers, or Leafs and just missed the playoffs.
Did they pick up some really good players? Oh heck yes they did! They will be more competitive. But... that won't be enough to get them in the playoffs.
I seriously doubt the moves they made is going to bring them the 36 points they would have needed to make the playoffs last season. They'll probably miss the playoffs but about 10-15 points.

Honestly, I think they went from being one of the worst teams in the league to merely being the most overrated team. I just don't get the hype. I think Daniel Briere is overrated, and I think the Flyers paid too much for him. He's skilled, yes, but not very gritty and not exactly a playoff champ. Timonen was a good pickup, as was Jason Smith, so your defense will be much better, but Derian Hatcher is still slower than a dog with one leg. And I think goaltending is a big question mark. Marty Biron had multiple opportunities to be the man in Buffalo, even before Ryan Miller came along, and was never good enough. Is he all of a sudden the next Patrick Roy? Hardly.
Throw on top of that the fact that the attitude of many of the young players was HORRIBLE last season. That attitude hurt them more than their skill level. I was really surprised how much of a baby Mike Richards was, especially, considering how his leaderships were so touted in juniors. If they can leave their egos at the door and gel, and if the young guns step up and start playing to their potential, the sky is the limit. They are, indeed, a young and exciting looking team on paper. But I won't believe it until I see it.

A million years? Just as long as you've been waiting for your cup, Lucia.
The Flyers have a much better team than the end of last year. I see them ending up 4-7 place in the East. I just don't get the guy who said the Islanders are still going to compete. Lose their 5 best players and they still make the playoffs? The Devils didn't get anyone either. All they did was lose Gomez and Rafalski.

the problem with the Flyers is they always seem to underachieve. I have been a Flyers fan for quite awhile, time and time again high expectations, just to be dashed, by either bad goal tending or aging broken down players. I think the Flyers still have some serious questions about the speed and quality of their defense men. just thankfully Bobby Clarke is gone, no more of his crazy trading away all the prospects for old has beens. I think this season will be an improvement (it only got to get better) , but if they get into the playoffs they will just squeak in.

I think they made amazing strides this off season and are contenders for this season, but as for the future I don't know. I'm a Caps fan and the rebuilding process sucked, but now we've got a TON of really good looking prospects and a bright future i think the flyers through money at their problem and that will hurt them in the long run.

They are without question playoff contenders this season, Paul Holmgren did an outstanding job rebuilding. They should be the team that makes the biggest improvement in points compared to last season. I agree with everyone who said that they will not yet be cup contenders yet, but they will be in the playoffs.

I'm saying NO because The East is too sick right now. Look at the Lightning, Rangers, Devils, Leafs, Pens, Ottawa, Atlanta, The Isles. Those are the picks and that's what's going to happen. Not enough imporvement on the checking line, lack of defensive depth and goaltending will kill them. (Biron is good but he does crack under pressure, check his shootouts last year) They'll be better than boston but not the habs or the panthers, both have stepped it up.
Watch the Atlantic division this year, it is going to be the most competitive division in all of sports. PERIOD.

Flyers made themselves better but they had a long way to go to be a cup contender. They'll duke it out for the lower four slots with most of the other eastern teams

I think that yes, they will improve greatly from last year, but they wont make the playoffs. i say 9th or 10th place in the east. There are still 8+ great teams in the east battling against them to make it to the playoffs.
