At 33 weeks my water broke and I had an ultrasound that said my son was 2 lbs. I was really worried about his weight knowing that he was coming early. A few days later my son was born and was 5lbs 4ozs. The ultrasound tech told me its not real accurate the baby supposedly can weigh 20% more or less then the estimate. Congratulations and dont let this worry you trust me theres no reason to.

i'm sure you're like me, trying to read and get to know as much as you can about your pregnancy and such. i've been on lots of sites trying to figure out what weight i should have gained by now, and how big my baby might be..and really if you pay close attention, most sites are different in baby sizes by weight and inches. for instance i'm 16 weeks, on one site it says my baby should be 5 inches, on another it says 6. everything really is an average because everyone is different. so i wouldn't worry. i'm trying not to worry myself. on one site, some say you can feel the baby at 15-16 weeks while other say 19-20...so i can't feel anything yet, does it mean they are wrong? no, it just means, for some, that could be the case. i think if the tech said baby is average, believe him. congrats.

The ultra sound tech doesn't know what they are talking about. You are going to have a BIG baby if the estimate is right. My son was born at 29 weeks and he was 2 lbs, 15 oz and my OB told me that was several oz bigger than other babies born at that gestation. They told me if he had gone full-term he would have been almost 10 pounds.

I wouldn't worry about it. Right before my doc induced me (37 wks), they did an ultrasound. He said it was an 7-7.5 lb baby. I had her 8 hrs later, and she was only 5 lbs 12 oz.

There is not way they can accurately tell how big your baby will be at birth. And you cannot tell from your belly size if it is baby or maybe a bit of padding.
I was told I was going to have a big one, he was only 7 pound 11. My friend was told the same and he was about the same size.
You can't worry about stuff like that because you have absolutely no control over it.

Let me put it to you this way....Your child has ONLY about 1 month to 1 1/2 months more to develope before he/she is born...
Within that one month, he/she will gain weight....
If your child is only 3 lbs, then I do not anticipate him/her gaining more than 4-6 pounds....Most of your childs internal organs have already developed. He/She will start depending on fliud to live, and their organs will finish developing...To me, it sounds like you are right on track...do not listen to statistics....In my opinion, your child will be born right around 9lbs, 3 Oz....that's a fine weight.....
Don't be concerned...Watch what you eat...make sure it's healthy...if you do so, then, God willing, your child will be born healthy...
God speed to you and congratulations...
