the average person doesn't want to hear about an election 2 years before it happens. It's summertime, most people are out enjoying the weather.

So the election is over a year away and there are 9 or 10 candidates. Is it any wonder people aren't watching? Have the republican debates done any better?
As for what American people want....the dems are closer to it than the republicans. Americans want an end to this war, health care, an energy policy that isn't just a way for the oil companies to make even more obscene profits, and some environmental regulations. What are the repubs offering? Continuation of a disastrous war, handouts to the pharmaceuticals, oil and coal industries, and big corporations, flag burning amendments, gay bashing, and a lot of talk about abortion.

To a certain theoretical degree, yes. But what you have to understand is that these are people who earn way more than the average American, and therefore do not fase the same kind of issues that most Americans have to deal with (unaffordable healthcare, failed education system, minimum wage, ...etc). If you remember, at the CNN/Youtube debate, all of them said: sure, I'd work for minimum wage. Hillary Clinton answered it as if she was being asked whether she was present in the room, without thinking or even lifting her head to look at Anderson Cooper. Also, many people pay more attention to the state and local government than the federal one, those are the ones that influences their lives on a daily basis.

No, the Democrats haven't a clue. But, unfortunately, neither do the Republicans or Independents or any other. That is the thing: they don't care. It is like the TV show of Survivor: someone has got to win, so it makes no difference to them as one of them will win.
The American Republic has become the American Aristocracy.

I'd say the Democrats have as much a clue about what the American people care about as the Republicans.
Which is to say, they don't.
Neither major party knows nor cares about what the American people want. They only know and care what their real employers want... and that would be the lobbyists.
Bunch of snakes... the lot of them.

Ask their brave new congress that has the lowest approval rating in history. Democrats do try to stick to being on the popular side of the debates like the Iraq War but in doing so expose themselves as fools. If it were totally up to the liberal media, these clowns would always be painted as American heros instead of unprincipled frauds.

The Dems worry about what the inner city Americans think. That is their base. High crime and high levels of poverty are where they get their votes. The rest of Americans they could care less about. Just ask Edwards, if you can find him in the new 35,000 sq ft home of his!!

Democrats.....Republicans. It makes no difference. Neither political party has a clue about what the American people care about.
And as long as the American people keep languishing in apathy, neither party will ever give a damn!

300 million Americans...200 million allowed to vote...less than half registered..about 30% will actually vote...
So about 30 million will vote. I hope that they run away with the election.

are you trying to make a point?
The Democrats do have a clue what the American people care about, that's why healthcare, Iraq, and education are such important issue to the Democrats.
