YES!!!!
it is prohibited to have a radar detector installed in a commercial vehicled. PERIOD! this is a federal law, so it does not matter in what state you are in

if u know a truck driver or are one then i got a site that u must see. by the way as long as u do not use the radar in washington dc or west virgina then it is legal. Go to www.biglucciradar.com they have everything a truck driver should have. They have pizza makers fir trucks, air purifiers, stoves, radar detectors, cb, coffe majers for trucks. U will love the site so go to it and check it out.

Here's a little reading for ya. From what I saw, only NY bans radar detectors in trucks over 18K.

They are illegal in some states and legal in some others. So it would depend on where he is at.
