I find them to be a nuisance, they seem to call when I'm at my busiest, and then they try to drag it on and on. It's like I have more important things to do than to be talking to you, have a crappy weekend I hope your house burns down.

They are pains but I really feel sorry for those who work as a telemarketer. When I was about 18, I was really hard up for a job so I went to work for the "Fort Worth Star-Telegram" as a "sales associate" which really was telemarketing. I absolutely hated it. A computer would do the dialing for you and you had absolutely no idea what number it was dialing and it would end up calling the same number 8 or more times in a day. By the time the person got home and took the call, they were really pissed off by how many times that they were called by the company so the poor "sales associate" would get cursed out and yelled at. I quit after only one week but I can promise you that I am never rude to telemarketers.

some very interesting answers
I was one for about 3 months not long ago, but the answers here very surprising, but its a job and there are alot i mean alot of people that benefit from them and its just like any other profession there are bad ones and good ones so you cant really say that you hate telemarketers as a group that's seems to me to be very prejudice, also people put down used car sales men and lawyers but we all use them too
If that is your job just be honest with people and be proud of what you do for a living

Telemarketers are a COMPLETE nuisance. I can't think of any situation in which they've been a convenience for me.

Well they're a little both, some are for human needs(charity), or what did you watch last night, "can we send you a dollar to do a survey".... what about oh we can refinance your home at a lower rate and save you money, They call at the most important time of the day (dinner) or they keep calling and calling. It's like hey pal, if you keep calling me you're going to have to invite me to dinner, cause the wife and 27 kids really would like for me to enjoy my dinner that you keep interupting. oh then finally we have those you think you're takling to someone then after a pause theres a damn recording..... are you kidding me? telemarketer do what they supposed to do annoy the **** out of people til one day little Joey snaps kills half his family and eats the phone. Nuisance! It's like they know when you're eating dinner with your family or when you're in the shower, and that's the time they choose to call!

nuisance i think, but it can make for some funny times. i like to yell "WHAT! I CAN'T HEAR YOU! WHAT!" then i ask them to hold on and i make my kitty meow at the phone. or when they ask for some one i tell them they passed away, and to please quit calling.
