How long can a refrigerator stay unplugged before being moved? I have heard that the more you unplug a fridge, the more you risk damaging it. So what is the truth? What happens to a fridge if you unplug it and move it? How long do you have to wait before you plug it in again?

As long as the refrigerator was running ok when you unplugged it you should have no problem with it. A refrigerator is a sealed unit so as long as you don't go banging it around you can leave it unplugged as long as you like.

It is okay to unplug a refrigerator. Just be sure that it is not laid down during the move. You should always keep a refrigerator in the upright position. Something to do with the gas in the lines that make it cold.

Its the freon gas used to cool and freeze your food in the lines at the back of the refrigerator that everyone is concerned about. You can move and plug it in as much as you want to but just beware that the heating up and cooling down of the freon makes it more of a chance to cause problems down the road.

It's a hermetically sealed system.
All you have to worry about is let it sit for an hour or two for the refrigerant to settle into place before starting the compressor after tipping & moving it.
( You don't want to start that compressor with a 'slug` of liquid in it.)
