According to Egyptian mythology, Osiris was a wise and benevolent King who taught the people to plant crops, make beer, tend animals, make laws and other aspects of civilisation.
Before his coming there was no settlement or civilisation according to mythology.
It was his popularity with the people that angered his brother Set. The legends tell of Set's murder of Osiris and the long search by Isis for his body.
After this long and eventful search, she found the dismembered body of Osiris and with the aid of Thoth was able to breathe life into his body, just long enough to allow her to conceive Horus.
Osiris was known to the ancient Egyptians as the God of the Underworld.
When a Pharaoh was living he was considered to be an aspect of Horus (this is in addition to the belief that each Pharaoh was the son of Ra) and each Pharaoh also had what was referred to as a Horus name.
In death the Pharaoh became an aspect of Osiris.
If you do a search of Tour Egypt website and go into Articles, you will find this story from Egyptian mythology and several other articles regarding Osiris.
The B.B.C. history website also have excellent articles and information about Osiris and Egyptian mythology.
It must be remembered that one God can have several aspects in Egyptian mythology. This can lead to confusion regarding who is who.
There is no evidence that there was ever a King or Pharoah actually called Osiris.
I hope this has helped.

Pharaoh Osiris

As a history major, I would have to say stories have an element of truth. However, it hard to tell what the truth is. Osiris has a temple which seems like a tomb structure. I wouldn't doubt Osiris was a real person whose story was turned into legend, much like king Arthur.

Osiris was a pharaoh of Mythical Egypt. He had a cruel brother, Set who tricked Osiris. Story goes that Set had a party and invited his brother also. Set suddenly produced a beautifully painted coffin, and announced that whatever guest fit inside the best, would win the coffin for himself. Osiris did not know that Set had secretly sent servants to measure him while he slept. Osiris fit perfectly when it was his turn in the coffin. Set immediately gave order to nail down the coffin. Isis, Osiris' wife searched for the coffin. By that time Osiris was dead so Isis prepared to bring him to life. Set discovered this and cut Osiris' body into 15 pieces and scattered them across Egypt. Isis painstakingly gathered all the pieces and resurrected her husband. Horus, Osiris' son took his place as king of upper and lower egypt ad Osiris went down to the underworld to become its king.

Osiris was the Egyptian god of the underworld, although he was also worshipped as a fertility, resurrection, and vegetation god. He was married to Isis, a sky goddess. He was father to Horus, the god of sky, and protector of the dead.

Osiris was killed by his brother Seth, who shut his body in a chest and threw it into the Nile, where it washed up onto the shore and was trapped in a huge tree. The King Byblos turned it into a pillar in his palace. Isis (who had been searching for her husband) discovered the trunk, and retrieved the trunk and the body. While Isis was away, Seth found the body, and chopped it up into many pieces, and scattered them throughout Egypt. Isis and her sister, Nephthys, found the pieces and made wax models of them to give to priests to be worshipped. When they found all of his pieces, they were so sad they wailed loudly enough for Re, the father god, to have pity on them. He sent Anubis and Thoth to help. They mummified Osiris, and put his body in a lion headed pier. Isis changed into a kite and fanned breath into Osiris.

He was not allowed to stay in the land of the living, and was sent to the underworld to serve as king, and to judge the souls of the dead.

...no indication at all that he was a human being or Pharoah and was considered as God after.

Osiris was not a real Pharaoh. He started out as a God.

I hate to quote wiki because of it's troubles with accuracy, but you can get streted by reading it:

No, he was not a pharaoh, he was a king (king of Egypt) from the pre-pharahonic times.
But I think everyone including Egyptologists are very careful with it because most of the people see him and his story like a myth not like a real fact from history, all this is because he is considered a god.
And his real name is Asar, Ausar, Asar Un Nefer, or Wesir because Osiris is the Greek corruption of his real name.

well as already stated we cannot answer fully yes or no , and people who claim to state y/n are basing it on their own interpretations, yes some myths contain maybe a small amount of truth, but as yet none have been found to give any credibility to this story. still we live and learn on a daily basis so who knows???

i have to say i have also wondered on this point after all where does most mythology come from but from fact. i think its highly possible the stories are based very loosely on very ancient fact. but i think it unlikely we will ever really know, there is no proof and i cant see there ever being any proof.
