Viet Cong , in the iron triangle.
Earring? No, sucking chest hole.
Luckily, no.
I always endeavour to avoid getting holes punched into my body since then.

Ah, Granny, thanks for the memories !! LOL. Ouch. Those were the days, huh ? So archaic !! I did my Mom's with an ice cube, potato, and a big needle, lol!
In answer to your question:
1. I was 13, and I had begged my Mom to do this. (1973)
2. They used a tong-like thingy with round flat things on the ends with a hole. They squeezed this on my earlobe and put the ball stud thru the hole. One on each side. Ow.
3. Regular gold balls--pretty small. (these thru the holes in the thingie) I had to turn them every day and not take them out for like 3 weeks.
4. I did get one more when I was 22. A second in my left ear at the State Fair, and with a gun this time. Not too memorable, but it was a place for my leftovers (from lost earrings) to go!
:)
Fun question !!!

Hi Granny. Well, my cousin and drove out parents crazy about getting our ears pierced when we were 12, so my dad drove us to a dr. where we had it done. Back then it had to be 18k gold, so I used a pair of my grandmother's earrings...little pearls set in a flower. I still have (and treasure) them, over 40 years later! Like yours, they have the screw posts....and Lord did they ever hurt when I had to keep turning them. About 15 or so years ago I also went to the mall and had the second holes done and love them. As for "other" body piercing....I leave that to my oldest son. He has more than I can count....and I'm sure probably one or two that I don't want to know ANYTHING about!!!

I got my ears pierced for the first time back when i was about 19. I got them pierced again when I was about 28. both times I got them done at the mall. i now have five piercings each on both ears. the rest was done at a tattoo and piercing place. the last piercing on my left ear was several months ago, and that's a cartilage piercing. I keep all the earrings in my ears, i take them out every so often to clean them then i put them back on. I got the cartilage piercing before my birthday this past april. I'm 49.

It was for my fifth birthday. It was really amazing that my mom let me because she is a bit over-protective. I think I brought a teddy bear with and we went to a local mall and I think those ear piercing guns were fairly new (?)(1980). I think I either got boring silver balls or it could have been my fake aquamarines...I really remember getting the chocolate Tootsie Pop after wards and being surprised that it didn't hurt. I don't think I got more piercings until I was close to 20. I got one more in my right ear and 3 more in my left, including one cartilage piercing which is about the only one I constantly have an earring in. Sometimes I wish my mom had made me wait 'till I was older, but ah well!

I was about 12 and I went to the mall with my mom. My mom got hers done too. My wholes were done with the ear piecing tool and my first earrings were little gold balls. I got my second holes when I was about 16 or 17 at the mall. When I was about 28 I got a third piecing in on ear, at the mall.

I was 14 or 15 years old when I got ears pieced at a doctor's office. My first pair of earrings were gold studs. Because I was allergic to the metals, gold or silver, I had to let my ears closed.
Then I tried it again when I was about 29 or 30 and had it done at JCPenney's. Still had problems, so I can't wear pieced earrings. Bummer

I am such an old stick in the mud...I have my original ear piercings, done in the lobe, that I got done at a jewellery store when I was 16 years old.
I had metal studs in them for six weeks, which kept on getting infected no matter how I cleaned them. So I switched over to 14k gold keepers and wore those almost exclusively until I entered the Armed Forces at 21.
THEY don't allow anything but small golden ball studs, which still aggravated my ears considerably, so I just stopped wearing earrings at all while I was in.
Then over the years I have worn earrings occasionally--more when I worked in offices. I have this really cute pair of articulated carp (gold) that I adore.
But I never did get any more piercings, although I succumbed to a small tattoo of a dragon behind my left ear when I was 45 years old. It's a wonderful dragon--all bright and firey--and makes a very clear statement about me.
Now, let me tell you about my sister! (She won't mind as she is an exhibitionist AND an S & M Queen.)
She is older than me by three years. She got her own ears pierced at the same time as I did, in the same place. Only she has gone on to get a lot more since then...
She probably has (I have never bothered to count) a dozen piercings on the rim of her ears--and that is each ear. And she uses a lot of those Indian style earrings that go around the whole of the rim and into the nose. Her nose is pierced on each side to accomodate this.
Then she thought she would go one step further, and had both eyebrows pierced (on the outside edge, so that the danglies wouldn't interfere with her sight). And she had special pieces made to go with her nose to ear earrings that also attach to the eyebrow piercings.
Then "tribal" fashions started. She got a bridge bar. And a nose bar (through the middle like a bull). A lip piercing in her bottom lip. A tongue piercing...and then much later a tongue split--but just the first inch.
She has double nipple piercings. And on her back a row of piercings from her shoulder blades to her waist that have gold keepers in them, and when she wants to "dress up" she strings ribbon between them--invariably black to go with her black rubber S & M costumes.
She has a belly button jewel, which is held on by some sort of piercing. This was a present from a grateful client and is a high quality 10 carat ruby.
She also has clitoral piercings and vaginal piercings that I refused to look at, but that I am assured make use of rings, studs and bars.
To celebate her 50th birthday, she got a huge lizard tattooed from her left breast to her waist in back, with it's tail curling around her waistline to encircle her bellybutton. This took over two years to colour in completely. She got bored over the years looking at a flat rendition of this tattoo, so decided to snazz it up. Now she is going every month or so to have "relief" work done on it that "raises" the outline of important parts by inserting wires underneath the skin.

I was a baby, so I don't remember. The 2nd set of holes in ears I got was probably around when I was 18, then my navel about 23. I hardly wear anything that shows my belly ring, but I still like it!

I was 34. I took my 16 yo daughter to get her ears pierced and I decided to get mine done because she was thinking of backing out. We had it done in a department store and it hurt like all get out. We both screamed. Then I went on an earring buying binge. I have 4 jewelry boxes full of earrings now. How many pairs of earrings does one person need?
