The guy I know hoses them down and soaks them in bleach then reuses them.

The best bet is to just buy a new one (www.unicel.com) But if you think it is still good, fill a garbage can with 1 part acid and two parts water and soak the filter over night. Rinse it off well with a hose and you should be in business. Add baking soda to the acid solution after your done to nuetrilize it.

no, the easiest way i've found is to just take them out, hose them down, put them away wet.
