Try Thomas Nagel's "The Last Word" or C.S. Lewis' "The Problem of Pain" to get your mind going. If the philosopher is funny, quit-witted, intelligent, honest and clear then it makes the journey much more enjoyable. When I was an 18 year-old freshman, I barely made it through the required Philosophy course alive, but 30 years later I was majoring in it at graduate school. If you can master the complexity of human nature (the whys), then you will do better as a doctor, lawyer, counselor, minister or member of the human race.

Philosophy is interesting. Therefore, I like philosophers when I'm in the mood to listen to or read about them.

I like philosophy...I think it's interesting. Are you asking about any particular philosopher or just philosophers in general?

i love philosophers and will always love them
on the condition that they are a) true critical thinkers and not just derivative people who spout off the ideas of others b) good listeners who are honestly interested in what the other party has to say c) humble people who realize that fear of God is the beginning of wisdom

Smile. We don't know them personally, so we can't form an opinion... But reading philosophy and understanding it requires certain level of intelligence. It is quite exciting, because it explains a lot of how's and why's of the world and people behaviors. But if you are not blessed with patience and intelligence, don't waste your time.

I have to be in the mood. Like watching a dramatic film or reading a research paper. Can only take it when I'm interested.

not everyone can do the kind of critical thinking that philosophy requires.
i thought i could at one time, but it turned out i was wrong! =D
so that's when it starts coming off as boring.
