In a nutshell - fear. People are afraid to talk about death and when they're around someone who is dying, it scares them to think that it could be them some day. Also, people tend to worry about saying the right thing and end up at a loss for words. Avoiding an uncomfortable situation is the easy way out but it's such a shame because often the person who is dying needs to know they're loved and cared for so much at this most critical time in their life.

It's because some stupid people feel more specialer since there's nothing wrong with them, and maybe they think those people don't matter in the world anymore just coz of illness and don't need respect.
Anyone who has been mean to a person coz they're terminal is a dicknose!

I dont think they treat them like dirt... Well i certainly dont. I am close to someone will a terminal illness and i only show extreme love and care to him!!!! and would do the same for people i wasnt close to...

Illness is a time that separates those who claim to be friends from those who are. Thats one of the reasons Family is so important.

I guess its because they are stupid. I would never know either. Because you never know what can happen to you in the future. You may just catch the illnesses that you are making fun of.

Because they don't understand what it's like to be diagnosed with an illness like that and they're quick to pass judgement.

because humans are not compassionate. they are uneducated to the facts about a lot of things they think they know but really dont care to know.

They don't like people who seem lower than them. Basically like the 1800s where the colored people were treated like dirt. That pissed me off when I learned that in 3rd grade.
