Here's a tiny hint; Ian Gillan wasn't Deep Purples original vocalist. They released 3 studio albums, and 1 super obscurely rare live album before his first appearance on the 'Concerto for Group and Orchestra' album in 1969.

carlmoles65 - Oh yeah I forgot to mention, Roger Glover wasn't an original member either. He joined the same time time Ian Gillan joined.

Original singer Rod Evans sang in Captain Beyond, and bassist Nicky Simper went on to form Warhorse.

Neither of which was particularly notable.

Gillan and Glover, of course, played for Black Sabbath and Rainbow respectively.

Was it Glenn Hughes? Well , i know there was the Hughes / Thrall thing, which sadly i never heard...but wished i had. The only other thing i know is that Hughes did a guest spot as vocalist on George Lynch's (Dokken guitarist...but you know that) solo thing. What a singer too!
