wouldn't the water be coming from a hole in the bottom of the boat so wouldn't drilling another hole make you sink twice as fast. Who carries a drill on a boat anyway?

Believe it or not that will work! just get it really close to shore, in shallow water, drill the hole and wait. the boat will get a little lower in the water, but once it sits on the bottom, it won't take on any more water. If you do it in deep water you may have a problem finding it to see if it worked though!

U should install a bilge pump at the back of the boats floor that would take care of the water coming into the boat. Its like a sump pump people use for their basements of the house put it at the lowest point where most of the water would be going and it automactically pumps the water out when it get to a certain level and away the water goes......

the only time i could see driiling a hole in the bottom of a boat it to let water drain out is when it cannot be drained any other way,but you still need to find out how it got there in the first place, such as small cracks in the floor etc.that let it in in the first place,i have done this before with small fiberglass boats before and found a surprising amount of water in between the foam and glass.other than that your friend is pulling you leg

drilling a hole in the bottom of it will not stop it from taking on water,it will help it take on more water, not a good idea to drill in to the bottom of any boat, good luck with it.

It will for sure help, but take care, it is very important that you drill the hole from underneath the boat's hull.. do not do it from the inside of the hull, and make sure your boat is in the water, because if it is ashore, the bilge water will piss into your eyes.. and that might be very dangerous for your eye sight..
although.. other means could help to..:-)

Your buddy is an idiot. All of the other answers here are treating the symptoms. Why don't you find out where the water is coming from and fix the problem?

Your buddy is moron. Go get a shop vac and vacuum the water out. Then bring your boat to the shop and tell them to fix the leak.

Yes! An excellent suggestion!

Just make sure you're on the water when you do it. Plus for this you won't need your life jacket.

Good Luck!
