At 6 weeks, it is normal for your son to eat more frequently. Try feeding every 2 hours if he is hungry. Soy formula is lighter than cow's milk formula, but that's not why he is hungry! He is probably going through a growth spurt and needs to eat more often. It may subside in a few days, but growth spurts happen often with babies, so be prepared!
How much does he weigh? Frequency and weight determine how much he should be eating at a feeding. You should also know that babies often feed frequently before long sleep, so if he's sleeping for more than 3 hours at night, he needs to eat more during the day. He will have the same number of feedings, but in a shorter amount of time, making you think that he's eating more, when he's actually just sleeping more.

Feed him more. He's likely hitting one of many growth spurts. In a few weeks he'll probably start eating less, so don't worry if that happens. As long as you see many wet and dirty diapers each day he's getting enough to eat.
---Please do not give him cereal, especially without talking to your doctor. It's not recommended giving babies under 5-6 months anything besides breast milk or formula.

My daughter was the same way. The docotr told me to feed her on demand - so I had the bottles ready. We moved from the 4oz bottles to the regular sized ones when she was about 2 months - but only gave her 6oz.
Eventually, around that same time, the doctor told me to add 1 teaspoon of rice cereal (NO MORE THAN THAT AND IT MUST BE RICE CEREAL, ITS ALL THEY CAN TOLERATE UNTIL OLDER) to her 4oz bottle, and that should calm her down. And it worked. I asked my mom about it, and she agreed with the doctor, saying that the teaspoon of cereal was enough to make her full.
Oh - only do this in like 2-3 bottles a day until your child gets older.
I also heard that regular formuula is denser than soy. Is there any special reason why your baby can't go to regular? Consult with your doctor about this as well.
I hope I've been able to help!

If he really is hungry, feed him a little more. I know a lot of people and doctors that would suggest cereal but I can't stress enough how inappropriate that would be. You will be doing your baby a huge favor by waiting at least 6 months before you give him anything more than formula, breast milk and water.

It sounds to me like he's demanding more food. I'd try making him a 6oz. bottle, and if that doesn't cut it, then move up to 8oz.
I don't think it's the soy formula that's doing this... your 6 week old is growing and is requiring more food.
Your baby will tell you what he needs. :)
By the way, my 2 week old takes 4 oz. every 3-4 hours in case you want to gauge that against your 6 week old. I definitely would suggest feeding your baby until he's content b/c it doesn't sound like he's getting enough.

some babies simply eat more. My sisters son was up to a 6 oz bottle by 6 wks because he was just so hungry. By 3 months he was eating cereal (very watery) with a spoon and doing great because he was just "starving" lol or so he thought. He is still a big eater now at 12 months. If you think he can handle it you can up his bottles. The minimum amout is 24 oz a day to stay hydrate so a little more would be ok.

Feed him more. I don't know anything about formula feeding, but I know that when a baby still seems hungry, he needs to be fed again (and again, and again, and again). Simple. Trust yourself! You're doing great.
