Because more and more people are getting their media from the internet, people are only now starting to realize how the media is horribly corrupt. There will still be an unfortunate amount of people who will say this network is left biased and FOX is right winged, but little do they realize that the media is in bed with our military. It's time to cut through the matrix people. Excellent question by the way.

I never voted on that question so I guess I'm not included in the 53 percent. And I've been on the internet for years. You have to be careful on those polls and look at how many people were asked and answered it.
Our Government is there to serve and protect, not the news media. The news media is just an information service, however correct or incorrect they translate the information.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. My opinion is that the news organizations only care about drawing attention with whatever stories seem to do it. I am thankful for the news as it's a source of public awareness. Without it, everyone would be walking around stupid.

Except for Faux Snooze, I do not find the media all that biased.
What I do find is that it is mostly put on as entertainment, and it is pure trash!
"Breaking News" used to mean that something very important, possibly a threat to the populace at large, was happening at that very minute. Now, it is used 3-7 times per half hour broadcast, usually to tell you there has been a "crash" on the freeway. (Duh! When isn't there an accident?) Oh yeah, and "crash" is now the operative word--not auto accident.
When I studied Journalism, and, granted, that was in the "dark ages", a story was to tell who, what, where and when. If "why" was a fact, not a supposition or an opinion, then the "why" could also be reported. It was to be written at a 5th grade level, because that was what was believed to be the most readable for the majority of Americans.
Newspapers, on the editorial pages and the op-ed pages, could help people to understand the news in greater depth, help them to see all sides of issues, and give the opinions of the "paper". You could choose to buy a more conservatively opinionated newspaper (In Detroit, the NEWS) or one a little more liberal (also in Detroit, THE FREE PRESS). You knew what you were getting! The actual news stories were nearly identical! Also, EVERY WORD had to be the absolute truth, and verifiable!!!
Now, with everyone trying for the "latest", it's a loosey-goosey world of half-truths, exploitation, porn, outright fabrications, "health" news ("We're too fat" "We're not fat enough" "Coffee causes warts", "Coffee helps memory", "Spaghetti is a killer", and on and on...), problem fixing, and all sorts of CRAP!
It is a shame, but it is all about money and making more of it for the corporate owners. Being able to think critically is more important now than it has ever been--in trying to find the "truth": in the "news". And critical thinking seems to be one of the subjects that has been lost as our teachers have to teach only for the MEAPs and other such tests.
The majority of Americans are more stupid than I have ever seen them. My daughter quit the University of Michigan because she was so sickened by the "dumb" people in her classes. She expected to be in school with other "deep thinkers"--HAHA.
When I hear my co-workers and friends and neighbors quote what they THINK they heard on the news, I become terribly afraid. And when the "news" is so full of Lindsey, Brittney, and who the "father is" that we can't even find out what is going on with our boys and girls in Iraq, we need to hang our heads in shame!
The Dumbing Down of America?? It's already here!

The media is more of a Patriot than a free media. I don't expect them to tell: "the whole truth and nothing but the truth" becouse they are owened by a very few VIPs'. And, of course ' truth is never cool and exciting'. The Media have to be censored inorder to protect the people.

My guess would be the Internet. It's creation allowed the free flow of information and you no longer had to rely on the media. When we became news independent we were able to see the light, so to speak.

News people are supposed to not care about the people they report on. They can't be unbiased otherwise.
If enough people of different beliefs report, sooner or later people can get the truth out.

It didn't. Being that the media are the ones in charge of the media, it's no surprise that they kept the information under wraps and away from the general public. Would you go around telling people how much you were hated?

Precisely why independent news outlets have sprouted in the form of blogs, and why corporate media is feverishly trying to appropriate and emulate the format.

Who cares. It is a free market. News organizations will do what they think will make them money. Would you have it any other way?
