Well, Enki really is the name of an ancient Sumerian deity. The name Enki more or less means "Lord of the Earth".

So, did our dear Enki named himself after the ancient Enki? Only he himself knows it. Let's wait to see what he says.

But yes, Enki is a good friend. And he does give the philosophy section here the vitality and a nudge that tickles the thoughts of many on this board....

Here's my best explanation as a Christian who is very familiar with Sumerian religions. Religion of any sort becomes corrupted after the passage of time and my assumption has always been that being closer to the source is usually the most truth. The Sumerians were around for thousands of years and the Sumerian writings are an amalgam of truth and legend, much like the Talmud is. Some of it is true and some of it was added later by men. The same as the Bible and how Christians pretend doctrines like the Trinity exist, but do not in scripture. So, when you are reading Sumerian literature, you're simply reading manmade error blended with truth. An is the same as God the Father and his Son Ea (Yah) is the creator of the Earth. After the passage of years, men heaped more and more additions on to this very basic doctrine, especially Nimrod who created idols and other such things. Abraham came along and Yah/Enki used him as a reformer to get back to basics and get mankind back on track with truth. Once again after mankind lost its way and the Hebrew forgot about God, Enki/YHWH set the record straight when he found Moses and used him as a reformer to impart his laws and edicts and to write them down so that it was less able to be corrupted by men. The Old Testament is very clear there are other gods around, but so what? YHWH is the one we are commanded to follow, however Deuteronomy states that Israel was apportioned to YHWH the Son of God. Later, YHWH the Son came down as Jesus (Y'Shua) to be the celestial sacrifice to redeem mankind and to offer salvation to those who would follow YHWH and to graft whoever is willing into his aportionment. Romans 9 says that Gentiles are grafted in to the Covenant with Israel if they choose to be. I see nothing that is anything that would take away from the beauty of Christianity. Make sense?

Enki is a young man of beautiful spirit; his artistic-creative talent is awesome. Look at his 360! It is always inspiring. His questions evoke depth of thought & feeling. He is wise, gentle & caring.
Is he a God? I doubt enki would consider himself a god! Those who know him will share your feelings; those who don't will discover his value if they follow his questions, & more. He has MANY loyal friends. I look forward to his questions every day. & yes, one can love someone never met, & over distances. I love enki.

I believe karen g totally misinterpreted this question. There was no reference to his avatar, &, personally--I want to thank you for asking it, & giving us the opportunity to respond with our admiration & LOVE.
