Don't get me wrong the man has a cannon, but he also played behind one of the best O-lines in college, and as Vick has proven, natural ability will only take you so far..... that being said what are your thoughts, sports fans?

*Russell was a bit of a one year wonder himself, if I recall.....O.k. maybe a year and a half wonder.

Truth be told only time will tell. He could be the biggest bust since Ryan Leaf or the franchise QB of the Raiders for years to come. I personally believed he came out a year too early because QB's need the most experience to get better and survive at any level, and not to my knowledge have their been any very successful Junior Quarterbacks. He does have amazing natural ability, but unless you do more to raise your game that talent and ability will only go so far. Tom Brady was portraited as having NO talent and ability whatsoever, and a backup at best, but we all know the rest of the story how his hard work to get better than his natural ability paid off, right?
In a nutshell, the longer he holds out, the worse his chances for surviving in the league are. There's only so much time and things you can do being away from the field and practice facilities. Who knows he might shock us all in the next few years, but as stated before about the Tom Brady's, the Ryan Leaf's etc.. only time will tell how these guys pan out.

Sorry, yet soccer is a team game. Lane Kiffen has introduced in 2 respectable working backs and drafted a promissing one. JaMarcus Russell will take over in week 9 as deliberate. With a reliable working activity or superior working activity, he won't be stellar before each thing, yet because of the fact the weeks bypass on, he will do very properly. Quincy Carter and Akili Smith, did no longer play for a reliable software like LSU, so JR has an benefit they did no longer. enable's provide him a shot before booting him out of the league.

Russell needs to stop whinning, sign a contract and learn the playbook and the offfense fast or else he will turn into Akili Smith or worse a Ryan Leaf.. What gets me mad is that greedy bastard wont sign, is not the Raiders fault he wants like 5years 70plus million and 43 of that guarantee! he hasn't don't anything yet! He had one good year in college and he wants a Peyton Manning type contract.. so yea to me he's already a bust! I really dislike him.. Raiders should have taken Calvin Johnson.

Ummm No Akili Smith didn't play teams with the talent that LSU played. Akili Smith played for Oregon under Mike Belloti who doesn't have the ability to coach a player to have killer instincts why do you think that Harrington pan out as well? Because he's overrated and his teams get too overhyped by the media in Oregon.

Jamarcus R is going to be a good QB, I think that Oakland needs to get him into camp. Only a team like the Faiders would do this to there future QB. JR is not like Akili Smith b/c of one thing, The Suger Bowl, JR was playing pitch and catch with his receivers, he was a man among boys out there. AS was a true one yr wonder that was at Oregon, not much of a Fball power house. LSU is in the SEC where he was tested every week.

Maybe he should play a few games first before anyone decides if he is the next Akili Smith or not.

I don't really trust Jamarcus, No one even considered him a top ten pick until that great game against that weak Notre Dame defense in the Sugar Bowl.
