You might start with nice curtains, bedspread and dust ruffle. I'd also take advantage of some of the cute furnishings they have for childrens rooms.. As far as putting things on the walls, you might try small tacks, in the grooves of the panels, which wouldn't show up later when you remove them. If the item is light enough suction cups also work well on paneling.. A fun idea I can also share with you is this.. When we were young, our parents bought a roll of white paper like the kind people use to line drawers and cabinets with.. They taped the paper to one wall of our rooms using masking tape. This became the wall we were allowed to color and draw on.. This way we could add our own personel touches to our rooms, and not mess up the walls..

The only thing you can do is pick the right decor for the room then. If you are not allowed to paint or wallpaper what else is there to wonder? I would suggest getting him to allow you to paint over the paneling and just seal the cracks with wall compound so that you do not have to tear it down, but again you are renting and limited to selecting certain decor to improve the look of the room.

Actually, you can buy fabric, such as border fabric, or some kind of fabric that goes with her likes. Such as Dora, Barbie, etc...
then...here's the neat part:
You can cut the fabric in strips wide enuf for wall border and use plain fabric starch...the kind you mix up with water.
You saturate the fabric in the starch mixture, and you can press it on the wall in place of border. When you're ready to move, dampen it and it will easily peel off the wall, with just simple soap and water cleanup. I have done this on drywall and paneling, with no problem. I saw this on one of those decorating shows on tv. It really works.
Try it.

You can use lengths of material from floor to ceiling on 2 of the walls in little girl material and it creates a cozy, magical feeling as well as solving your problem. You could check out sources for leftover bolts at a reduced price, maybe, like our carpet store does here. I did two bedroom floors at 1/2 the cost from leftover carpet from big contract jobs the company had done.

You can put up wallpaper... just use staples instead of glueing the paper.... the staple holes won't show...

The other thing you can do is use fabric.... and once again, staple it. The staples won't show and neither will the holes when you remove the fabric.

Before you change anything you'd better talk to your landlord, he might be a little put out over changing anything.

What if you covered the walls with a neutral fabric and then decorated the fabric?
