You're in no legal obligation to pay her anything other than the amount being garnished from your wages.

However, you may feel morally obligated to give her money for things she spends on the child. But it's purely at your discretion.

Get out your divorce decree and read the Stipulations as it should be clearly spelled out.

Many times the father is required to carry insurance on the children and the mother is responsible for any deductibles (or sometimes it is vice-versa).

If neither parent had insurance, perhaps 50/50 would apply, but even then, most states have a health plan you can sign the children up for on a sliding scale if neither parent has insurance.

Sometimes school expenses, such as book fees or tuition if children are going to a private school are split 50-50.

Things like school clothes, supplies and any extra-curricular activities are almost always what child support is to cover as those are all incidental expenses. She doesn't have the right to expect you to pay for those things and you should be under no obligation to pay for any part of them, unless, for some very odd, strange reason, you agreed to it in your final divorce settlement.

As your mutual children are involved, just hanging up or getting a restraining order, unless she goes over the edge are not good moves to make. Simply tell her or make a copy of the divorce decree and return the bills to her along with a letter indicating that per the divorce decree filed with the Court, you do not see where you are obligated to pay any part of the bills she is seeking reimbursement for and if after reviewing the Decree she begs to differ, cite the specifically in the Decree where and why.

Those "other" things are what the child support is supposed to cover, you shouldn't have to pay extra. The medical is usually separate from child support though....are those the kind of bills she sends you?
Unless your court order states otherwise, anything else you give her is a gift.

Oh no she isn't!! What is wrong with women these days??? I am a woman and I am amazed at what my gender will do to you guys.

My husband's X could live comfortably on the child support she takes. Literally half of his check went to her, and has been for years. Until recently, she never even had to have a job.

What is wrong with this picture, people? Dad is supposed to pay half of the support of the CHILDREN, not the wife. If she is living off the child support, she is not contributing one naked penny. He is literally supporting two households. Where is HER responsibility? How is this friggin fair?

When I divorced, I asked for very little. I was more than happy to support my children, and did not want fights over how much money, when and where. The more she gets, the more complicated your life will be, trust me on this one.

Get a good lawyer. She sounds like a support-sucker. Sucks you dry at every available opportunity. Find a way to shake free of this, or it will follow you FOREVER.

Good luck. It galls me how much we women can make you guys squirm, and I hate seeing it.

most likely a judge will tell you that child support goes for things like water, electrcity, food, .. but will also want you to pay for half of school supplies etc.. seems to me that sometimes men get the royal screw around...

Get a lawyer. Child support is exactly what it says, the money needed to support the child. If your ex is demanding more money you can demand more custody.

The child support is for those things. You are not under obligation for any more than that.

Read the divorce decree if it is not covered... Hang up the phone and refuse to talk to her...Don't argue with her---hang up the phone... She comes over don't answer the door---OK.. If ya get into anarguement and police called -- you will go to lock up for domestic disturbance.. Better still get a restraiing order...
