I asked an auto body shop and they said a little more than $500, but the scratch isn't even that bad. it's on the bumper. Should it really be that much? They just need to paint it, right?

Advance Auto Parts sells little bottles of paint to match almost every common car(Ford, Toyota, Chevy). They come in little bottles and you can find out your color by either looking at your Car Title, or inside the door of your car(someone that works there can find it too). Since your car is silver there are quite a few different ones, so make sure you get the right one. The bottles have a brush tip and a rollerball tip(works like a pen). Just clean the area, dry it, and apply the paint. Be careful when using the brush side because it's just like nail polish, and can drip, stain, and not come out of clothes. Also, after putting it on, make sure to let it dry at least a few hours(24 is better, but it won't hurt it after a few hours). Just don't pick at it or go mudding or anything. You might want to get a guy friend to help you out with it. I did it myself on my Mustang and it worked out fine. It hid a bunch of minor scratches, and a few deep ones. You're supposed to use a 4 step process where you basically buff the area, then apply the color, a clear topcoat, and then use another wetsand type paper to get any excess off. I just used the color and it covered fine but you may want to do it the right way ;)

Go to a Auto paint store only. Not Auto Zone or Advanced Auto Parts, they sell junk. Look in your phone book under "Auto Body Equip. and Supplies." They Can help you more than anyone Can. I paint Cars for a living............

you should have a paint and auto parts store close like a ppg store or napa but paint is expensive you will also need a special paint gun for automotive paint and you need to buy a clear coat to bring out the shine other wise it will dry dull and they dont make a paint ready to go out of the can for cars so have the store people mix your color they will need a paint # its usally on the drivers side door sil or in the dash or trunk if i were you i would take it to a body shop

Go to the Toyota dealer. They will have little jars of perfectly matched touch up paint.

First choice would be a dealer. Then automotive paint shops. I would also get an estimate from a body shop and see what they would charge you to do a good job.

don't do a job you don't know how to do...take your car into a touch up shop (look in your local phone book) or ask your local Toyota dealer what shop they use.

who cares,it's just a little crappy toyota matrix. Nobody cares what it looks like. It's ugly the day it rolls out of the factory.
