Republicans like to say "cut taxes and it raises tax revenue"...
I guess if you cut it to zero, it will be all-time record breaking tax revenue, according to their ideas?

There are some things the individual citizen cannot efficiently do for himself...like earn a living and defend the borders against enemies...like create an interstate system to travel from one end of the country to the other...like enforce appropriate laws (hmmm, this last one has me thinking that maybe it would be more efficient if private citizens did take some of the legal matters into our own hands). The government is responsible for taking care of those necessary services, and even the most staunch conservative agrees with that. What they don't agree with is taking money from one group (of working citizens) and giving to another group of lazy citizens. In our construct, if you are lazy...that's your business in a free country...deal with the consequences.
Nicole J has a beautiful mind too :)

More revenue? If you have 0% of more revenue, it is still 0. You either pay some % tax, or let business maintain the infrastructure for their own commerce.

tax cuts are good for digging the economy out of a hole, which it surely was in after the stock market bubble burst in 2000 and 9/11 hit in 2001.
what would generate more economic growth is to repeal all taxes on income and replace them with taxes on consumption [like the value added tax].
then you'd not have to file an ncome tax return at all -- wouldn't that be great!!
:-)

As a Conservative I find taxes a form of tyranny on the citizens as the majority of taxes are unethical or illegal. For example Social Security is a tax a mandated tax which says we will take your money because you cant be trusted to invest it for yourself

Um, if no taxes are coming in then no, it won't generate more revenue. However, lowering taxes does increase tax revenue. That is a fact.

Here is an idea for you libs, just send in extra money on your tax returns. You Socialists love the idea of high taxes, so send in your whole paycheck and make the world a better place. Oh I forgot, you libs don't work.

Your arguement is VERY silly!
Many businesses increase their income by decreasing prices (Sales).
If they sell 200 widgets at $5 profit (they buy at $20 & sell at $25) thats 200 X $5 = $1000
If they sell 300 widgets at $4 profit (they buy at $20 & sell at $24) thats 300 X $4 = $1200
But if they sell ANY amount of widgets at NO profit, they would recieve NO profit!
Moderation is the key!

GREAT idea, Chi. I'll pay mine towards defense (which is the ONLY thing the feds were originally supposed to provide). :) The rest of my taxes will go to my state, county and municipality so that THEY can take care of things on hand and NOT the feds.
I like that. You're a conservative in disguise. Right? *wink*

A budget works. Applying money where it belongs or where it's needed; instead of devoting it to every other variable economic 'want' works.
Thanks for the 2 points.
