Well, if you promise to not let it get you in trouble at school, then I'll give you a valid reason to have one. OK? OK.
There are times when it would just be safer to have a cell phone on you. For instance, if you were walking to your friend's house and a stranger started following you -- you take out your cell phone and let him SEE you making a call, usually he'll split.
If you were walking to your friend's house and came up on a wreck and no one was around to help.
If you go shopping at the mall with your mom and the 2 of you went to different stores. Then when she couldn't find you and was ready to go -- just call you.
Bottomline is - probably Mom thinks your whole life will be turned over to the ominous PHONE, instead of just 90% percent like it probably is now. She would like to see you and talk to you herself sometimes. So compromise, think about a Trac phone. That way you can't run the phone bill up using too many minutes, and you won't "live" talking to your friends, and you can give some time to your family!

My sister is 12, and she has a cell phone.
My Dad bought it and is paying for it, because at this 'day and age' it's dangerous and very good if children have their own means of communication.
What if there's a fire at school?
The parents aren't going to be called very soon, 'cause that's hundreds of kids whose parent would need to be contacted at the same time.. I'm 16, I have a cell phone, and if there was a fire/emergency at school I'd be on the phone with my Mom immediately.

"123 its me" .. 13 year olds, at least where I live, aren't allowed to go to the mall alone..

Well a few good argument points you could use on your dad are :
- Dad, what if i was walking somewhere and someone tried to kidnap or hurt me , how would you find out , once itss too late ? [ a little dramatic but i works , sometimes ]
- What if Im at a party and people start drinking and i want to leave how do i get ahold of you guys ?
- What if you need to get ahold of me in case of a family emergency.
- I wont have any extras on my phone and I will pay for everything on it ! oh and i wont use to many minutes either
HOPE THIS HELPS
GOODLUCK : ]

being 13, how can you afford ur own cell phone? ... just ask for a prepaid phone... that way they dont have to deal with you going over ur minutes and u can say ur only using it in emergencies or u and/or ur parents can monitor ur minutes... i dont htink it's necessary that u get a phone with a plan and everything... but i think a parent would be more understanding if they knew about prepaid and how it's much diff from having a cell w/a contract

My 13 year old daughter has a cell phone, but that is because I am a single mother and I work, so after school she can call me when she gets to where she has to walk to. I gave it to her for safety reasons. When she calls her friends, she uses the house phone.

How would you pay all the costs if you're 13? Cellphones cost about $50 a month and if you go over your minutes its even more. That doesnt even account for the actual phone itself.
If you go a lot of places by yourself I'd say its a lot safer for you to have a cellphone.

if i replaced into you i could circulate with the t-cellular shadow (2009 version). It has a 22 key pad whitch takes some getting used to in spite of the shown fact that it gets easyer as you us it and it has a 2 megapixel digicam,a USB cable, and has a micro SD slot for added memory.its very stylish and runs on a sparkling abode windows cellular, and is hotspot inable so while you're close to a wifi connection you will get great coverge. while you're searching for for a greater low-value telephone i could circulate with the samsung blast it is likewise with t-moblie and does with regards to the comparable it incredibly is truly no longer warm spot inable, would not have a USB cable, and would not run on abode windows cellular.

I really don't understand why you need to get a phone if you're not going to text. I'm 13, and I just got one last year. You should say that it's for safety. That's what I told my parents. But now....It's more like just texting friends. Trust me; that'll happen to you, too, so don't say that you won't text anyone.
