This may be personal, but 'Imagine' by John Lennon, and 'Soul to Squeeze' and 'My Lovely Man' by Red Hot Chili Peppers HAVE to be played. Imagine adn Soul to Squeeze are kinda slow, but My Lovely Man is fast and more rocker type. But, it means what it says. No critisezim! (By me)

Well at my dads funeral. a guitarrist played Imagine by John Lennon, and Tears in heaven by Eric Clapton.

At mines. Id probably pick Imagine, Free Bird by skynard, Seasons in the sun by Terry Jack.

I would have to choose between:

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd (the song is soothing)
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd (that song is amazing)
Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd (another amazing song)
Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton (the song is so smooth)
Loving the Alien - Velvet Revolver (nice sad song)
I'd Do Anything For Love - Meat Loaf (a bit harder than the rest but still amazing)

The one song I would love to be played at my funeral would have to be Purple Rain by Prince. Yes I'm an 80's girl but if you guys would sit and really listen to the lyrics it is a very beautiful song. After that they can play whatever they wish. The very last song that I also would like to be played is " Who Wants To Live Forever" Sound track for The Highlander" song by Queen.

as long as the funeral home in charge of the arrangements ok 's it you can play whatever you want.when my brother died suddenly and unexpectedly at home his only son could not come to the funeral.Jody and his band mates were working very hard on putting their first CD together.so we played along with other songs his bands cover songs so he could be a part of his dads funeral.it was special and Jack would have been proud.good luck.

"Who Says (It's Good To Be Alive)" by Richard Hell & The Voidoids

I don't want anyone to know about it before hand either so the irony has the full effect. I mean come on, wouldn't that be great? Funerals shouldn't be so damned depressing.
