I've stayed at Tropicana. We stayed in the Island Tower. Our room was a decent size. There were mirrors over the bed, beside one side of the bed, behind the bed, and in front of the bed. The room was done in bamboo. The bathroom was was a nice size too. There was a big sort of oval shape tub/shower combo in there. Big enough for two people easy!
If you get a room in the Paradise Tower, you might be fortunate enough to get a pretty good view of the strip. I will caution you though, that it is a pretty long walk from the casino to your rooms. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT STAY IN THE GARDEN ROOMS THOUGH! They are the worst rooms there. I never stayed in one but when we walked down the hall where they are, it seemed to smell and were not pretty.

The pool is FANTASTIC! As a matter of fact, most web sites rank it as one of the better pools in LV.

The casino was okay. I don't recall losing much money in there either. The drink service could have been alot better though.

The hotel is in a good location. MGM, Excalibur, and NYNY are on the other corners. And at the Excalibur you can get on a monorail that goes to Mandalay Bay and Luxor. (I still prefer staying a little further down on the strip though - more in the middle).

Hope this helps.

My husband and I have stayed at the Tropicana twice. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the standard room looked (in the Island Tower) and it was clean. The carpet looked new, there was a small couch, table, chair and it was a pretty nice size room. It has a regular size TV (about 19" I estimate) and an alarm clock. The thing I was most happy about was the oversized soaking tub - it was HUGE! We stayed in a room that had a pool view and no view of the strip, but really it didn't matter to us. If we wanted to wait a bit longer at check-in, we could have gotten a room with a view but we didn't want to wait.

Overall we had a great experience at Tropicana both times we visited and I'd stay there again. Service at check-in was outstanding and we had no problems whatsoever while staying there.

the tropicana isnt bad at all for the price. we just stayed there. Just request a room on the higher level. NOT BY THE GARDEN AREA, cuz those rooms are really old and crappy. But the newer rooms and the tower is really nice. Plus, there is a good chance you'll get a nice view of the strip. Which we did and it was amazing.

The restaraunts are ok. Not great, but not too bad. The casino's not too big, but its not like you have to stay in that hotel the hole day. The rooms are pretty much all that count. So for the price, yes its a good hotel. And i forgot to mention the pool.....Great pool!

It's an older hotel, as others have said. I actually live ON Tropicana, down the street from it! :)

The pool is amazing. They have waterproof cards and stools in it so you can play blackjack while you're in the pool! I'm not sure what they're doing right now for entertainment, but in the past I've been to bird shows out in the garden areas (they had trained parrots and laser lights... a little cheesy but still fun and it was free.)

The furniture in the rooms is outdated, but they're in good shape and the rooms are big.

If you have never been to Vegas it's fine. It's an older hotel and a dark casino but it is a great place to start. Pretty cheap for a strip hotel at least right now it is. Views vary with the price of the room. But think about how much time you will actually be in your room. The location is fantastic.

I have never stayed at the tropicana, but have friends that stayed there, they said it was fine as long as you don't really care about what your room looks like, which you really shouldn't because in vegas you might be in your room to sleep for 5 hours a day. Good luck and have fun!

The Trop is pretty basic. It's fairly old and it shows its age in a lot of respects. However, if you are looking for a place in a good location and value, it's really not bad. The Trop is directly across the street from the MGM and NYNY. Both of these are great places to hang out at night if you are looking for the club scene. A quick walk over the LVB bridge and you are home.

The Tropicana is a basic hotel on the strip.
The pool is very small and the rooms are poor in relation to other hotels on the strip. But good location and cheap.

It's ok, like a decent third rate Vegas hotel. None of the hotels on the strip are going to be dumps, they're all better than a Marriott. But the Wynn, Venetian, Mandalay Bay, and Bellagio are the Kings!

If you're lucky, on one side you can see a lot of the strip.

It's alright but if you can stretch I'd look elsewhere. MGM Grand is right across the street with some 5000 hotel rooms. You might get a good rate there.
