Does anyone know roughly how much taxpayer money is sent to other countries? Are there needs in this country (OUR COUNTRY) that could benefit from these dollars? Are other countries more deserving of OUR tax dollars than our own citizens? Do we need to spend money on: education, health, housing, infrastructure, environment, the young, the elderly? Hell, why am I even asking this? The answer is yes to all. The "GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD" should have no one that goes to sleep hungry at night. We should have the best schools and hospitals in the world. I am sick and tired of this and would like to see some changes. I am sick and tired of politicians who love to be viewed as saviors of the world. I am not a radical, I am a realist. Those responsible for the dispersment of funds to other countries need to look closer to home. They need not turn their backs on citizens of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was listening to the News today and heard that we are spending $ 2 Billion Dollars a week in Iraq. And I got sick to my stomach.
What a waste of tax payers money. For what we have spent in Iraq which is closing in on a Trillion Dollars we could of had Universal Health care for everyone for the next 20 years.

2 Freakin Billion Dollars a week! Just think what we could be doing for our own people and infrastructure if we were spending 2 Billion a week.

Leaving Iraq out of the equation for the moment, the amount of foreign aid in the United States budget is a very, very small percentage. And in many cases, it buys more than its share of good will. We're not alone here, and we need to share the wealth a little bit. I'd like to think we can try to help those who are dying of Malaria in Africa as well as those who need help in Detroit. It's not an either/or situation.

Or put another way -- would you rather spend tax dollars on farm supports that go into the pockets of large corporations, or would you rather they go toward fighting AIDS overseas?

If we don't give money to these countries, the world portrays us as being selfish. If we do give them money, then we have less for our own people. America is in a no-win situation either way.

Charity begins at home. Get your own people on their feet first and you will have a much larger force to help, a bit delayed but it is better than never.
