How long does a personal injury lawsuit to go to trial? If the court you and your lawyer is going to use isn't that busy do you get a trial faster? what are the circumstances of getting a faster trial?

It takes anywhere from about 4 months to two years. No, the business of the particular court has nothing to do with it. The discovery process has everything to do with it. The circumstances that make it go faster directly correspond to how cooperative the lawyers are with eachother.

Most of the claims I have go to trial in about 2-3 years. However, before that, there is discovery and mediation. How long all of this can take depends on the particulars of the case.
If you are thinking of filing a law suit to speed up a personal injury claim then I encourage you to re-consider. Filing a law suit does not speed things up - rather it tends to bring the settlement process to a screeching halt.

It all has to do with discovery and exactly how long it takes to bring in evidence, objections and motions to be ruled on. If the attorneys are cooperative then it will move alot faster...but I wouldnt be on it.
It could take from months to years, and the appeals could take even longer if a settlement is not reached.

I have been aware of several civil trials.
Seems to me they averaged 10 years before going to trial.
I have been aware of several criminal trials.
Seems to me it was 1-3 years after the crime that the trial actually started.
