I haven't used knot magick *too* much, but you could find a lot of info online if you do a search. When I used cords for magic, I only used them for that one spell, and usually didn't untie them or use them for anything else. I've used cords in different ways, for different types of spells. For love spells, I've knotted together two cords and wore them as a bracelet(the meaning should be obvious). I did a spell once where you tie a cord around your body where you are experiencing pain, let the pain "seep into" to the cord, and then untie it and throw it away. Colors are important, just as in all magick. You should know the meanings of colors already if you've been doing magick for a while. But remember, the way magick really works is by your intention. It's not so much getting every little thing right, as it is making it feel right for yourself. You could make up your own magick and have it be even more effective.

Like most sort of magicks, knot magic works with your intention. Ergo if you fashion a spell using knots, you can choose to make it so that the tying of the knot seals the magic, and therefore untying doesn't so much "revert" the spell as it simply stops having an ongoing effect (if that makes sense). Or you can do the magic the other way, and weave it into the knots, so that when you untie them, the very act of untying releases your stored up magick into the universe, and that is the casting, so to speak, of the spell.
Personally, I'm more a fan of the latter, as you can re-use the rope. Either way, up to you. Doing it the other way has its advantages, with the rope being a more constant reminder and focus for you.
Knot magick is really awesome- especially when you tie a lot of knots, rather than just one, the repetitiveness and the nature of the act itself are amazing.
Good luck and blessed be!

Is this the kind of Knot Magick you're lookig for?
When the man falls a asleep after sex, she takes the twine and ties nine knots in it (some say seven knots) and wraps it up with the hairs in the semen-wetted cloth (if she uses a cloth). She puts this packet in a red flannel mojo bag and wears the bag always, under her skirt or pinned to
her panties, anywhere beneath her waist. The man must not see it or touch it. From then on he will be hoodood and will not be able to get hard with any other woman but her, and the only way for him to get this condition off is to undertake a lengthy uncrossing spell -- or to steal back the knotted string and untie the knots himself.

Find a book that does answer your questions.
I think it is about storing power. I think how it works is you tie the knots in a certain order, the untie them when you want to release the power into a spell, like healing. It's an added "oooomph". And I think cords can be reused again and again.

there are as always different traditions of this type fo magic.
in the style that i use. if you wish to use different or new spells a new rope is required. however that kind of goes without say because once the knots are ties and the spells woven we often burn the rope to release the energy to the world.
in some cases we keep it for awhile depending on the spell being used.
however this is a slightly newer style fo the magic. that was devised by a teacher of mine, and i picked it up from him.
it is not what i would call "traditional".

Well it's not that hard. It's the intention that counts. Just make sure you never undo the knots or use the cords for anything else. I've known people to burn the knotted cords afterwards or bury them... some keep them. It just depends on your style and what the magic was.
