That is absolutely crazy thinking. No, they were not blown up by President Bush. This is just a bunch of baloney created by haters of our president to make a fuss.

THEORY 1: 19 Islamist conspirators planned their attack thru the Internet. At the time, passengers and personnel on commercial aircraft were instructed to be passive like sheep towards hijackers (after all according to the stupid bureacratists, one should always depend on so-called "professionals" for their personal defense, even if they are not available. Good thing the passengers on 93 realized that they individually are responsible for their defense and others, too bad they died stopping the Islamists). Noting this, the muslim conspirators realized they only needed minimal improvised weaponry (box-cutters) to seize control of aircraft. So they did. They then used the aircraft (737's mostly) as cruise missiles. The impact weakened the WTC structures, the burning fuel heated the steel and weakened the metal until the weight of the floors above exceeded the weakened steel's strength. Thus the destruction of the World Trade Center and damage to the Pentagon building.

THEORY 2: The government along with some shadowy group (insert any if you like, ex: RAND corp, Illuminati, Mossad, The Greys, etc.). Explosives were planted throughout the World Trade Center by hundreds of government conspirators. Since no real passenger airplanes were involved (a cruise missile hit the Pentagon, there is no flight 93) the government conspirators also included thousands of people consisting of the almost 800 "missing passengers" and thousands of family members of the "passengers". The hundreds or thousands of "witnesses" that say the same story of two passenger planes hitting the World Trade Center were also part of the secret plan.

What makes THEORY 2 less reliable?

It is impossible for the Human Ape to form a tight group of trusting members (such as a conspiracy group) that numbers greater than 150 people (Dunbar's Number). This was experimentally proven thru studies of the Human Ape groups, the Chimpanzee Ape groups, Gorilla Ape groups and several species of monkey groups. The Dunbar's Number is proportional to monkey and ape brain size. Not surprisingly, Homo sapiens' Dunbar Number is the largest. THEORY 1 has 19 conspirators (<150 people), THEORY 2 has thousands of conspirators (>150 people). Although there are gaps in data regarding THEORY 1, they are not sufficient to completely falsify that theory. Dunbar's Number completely falsifies THEORY 2. This is not the only glaring gap for THEORY 2. It is impossible for the Human Brain to establish conspiracies larger than 150 people, it simply doesn't have enough brain power.

THEORY 1 best fits the data while also being simpler than THEORY 2.

So what could be the psychological reason to believe THEORY 2? My guess is that the believers want to believe in an Omnipotent Nation-State. Even if there is a bad leader at the top, there is still order and things are in easily explainable catagories. And after all, one can always replace a bad Head-of-State with a good one that can use the power of Almighty Government to do good in an orderly fashion. But if 19 individuals super-empowered by de-centralized information technology defeated a Nation-State's defenses, then the implication is that the State is not always in control. It means CHAOS!
The technological trends are toward more powerful private networks of small groups(<150) and individuals compared to that of the Nation-States' Enforcers. Existing examples: Internet, cell-phone detonated IED's, etc. Emerging examples: de-centralized manufacturing(Fab Labs), small homemade nanoweapons, homemade microbial weapons, and other personal superweapons. If this trend continues in the Twenty-First Century, large Nation-States (particularly, heterogenous States) will gradually become ungovernable. Polities will shrink in the numbers of their members until the micro-state size begins to approach Dunbar's Number. No World State and no World Peace for the foreseeable future!

Part of living in a free society means we have the right - and the obligation - to scrutinize, mistrust, and question our government. Those who are gullible enough to take the government's "word" for incredulous events are doomed to eventually live in a totalitarian culture ruled by dictators.

There is some credible evidence that arguably succumbs to the conclusion that our government participated in - or at least knew about - the 9-11 'terrorist attacks'. When you consider all the other times our government has lied to us in the past generation, it doesn't seem to unbelievable.

Our government has never satisfactorily explained the events of 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico, particularly to those who were there and witnessed what happened;

The Warren Commission was a whitewashed version of the Kennedy assassination that many people don't think is the truth. But we won't know until 2038 when all documents are unsealed;

Our government lied about U-2 spy planes being flown over the U.S.S.R. until Nikita Khrushchev shot one down and displayed it for the whole world to see;

Our government lied about U.S. battleships being 'attacked' in the Gulf of Tonkin, which ultimately dragged us into the Vietnam War, the worst American debacle in history until George W. Bush's 'war' in Iraq;

Our government lied about the effects of Agent Orange on Vietnam veterans;

Our government lied about a third-rate burglary in the Watergate Hotel until two young reporters dug out the truth, which resulted in the resignation of a U.S. President;

Our government lied about an illegal arms-for-hostages 'deal' that later became known as the Iran-Contra Affair;

Our government lied about 'weapons of mass destruction' being stockpiled in Iraq, which dragged us into an illegal, unconstitutional, unjustifiable, immoral 'war' with another country that in no way threatened, provoked or attacked the United States;

Our government lied about secret CIA prisons, and sexual abuse and torture of 'detainees' in direct violation of the rules of the Geneva Convention, to which the U.S.A. is a primary signatory;

Our government is lying today about the cost of the Iraq 'war'; the number of casualties; and the real reasons why we invaded that nation.

If our government has lied to us so much in the past (under both Republican and Democratic leaderships), why is it so hard to believe that our government might have fabricated the whole 9-11 tragedy just to stir up emotions that would allow the Bush administration to attack Iraq all for the sake of OIL and WAR PROFITEERING - at any cost (including the lives of 675,000 Iraqis and 3,700 U.S. soldiers)??

The Easter bunny made all of us who witnessed it have a mass hallucination, just in time for Santa to cause that 4th plane to fly into the ground in western PA.

My personal feeling is that Bush conspired with the extremist Islamics to have it done.
Through proxies, of course.
