What is the vegan's position on breastfeeding?

Surely mother's milk is an animal product.

The mother can make that decision, an animal has no choice.

It's fine as long as the 'mother' is willing. Most vegan moms I know have chosen to breast-feed their kids.
The idea behind veganism is health and/or animal welfare & breast-feeding is compatable with both. Human milk is for human babies, cows' milk is for calves ;-)
