If ONE star equals to FOUR circles, then
THREE stars equals TWELVE circles.

If THREE circles equals FOUR diamonds, then
TWELVE circles equals SIXTEEN diamonds.

Therefore, THREE stars equals SIXTEEN diamonds, or
the ratio of stars to diamonds is 3/16.

a million. convert those ratios into branch. Ex. : x : 3 = 12 : x => x/3 = 12/x then, end the equation. x/3 = 12/x x * x = 12 * 3 x^2 = 36 x = sq. root 36 x = 6 2. a similar way like no.a million y/18 = 8/y y * y = 18 * 8 y^2 = a hundred and forty four y = sq. root a hundred and forty four y = 12 3. abbreviate flour as F, sugar as S, raisins as R. F + S + R = 550 g on account that F = 2S , and S = 3/2R (R = 2/3 S then) so, replace them (as an occasion) to S. F + S + R = 550 g 2 S + S + 2/3 S = 550 g 11/3 S = 550 g S = 550*3/11 g S = a hundred and fifty g now locate the flour volume, F = 2 S F = 2 * 15 g F = 3 hundred g thx

Ratio of stars to circles is 1 : 4 therefore 4stars = 16 circles
Ratio of circles to diamonds is 3 : 4
Ratio of S:C:D is 3 : 4 : 16
so the 3 : 16 you have correct

You are correct.

Here is another process to solve this problem.

s = star
c = circle
d = diamond

1) 1 s = 4 c from this: 1 c = 1/4 s

2) 3 c = 4 d

You can substitute c in equation (2) in terms of s as:

3*((1/4)*s) which equals 4 d.

==> 3/4 s = 4 d

therefore 3/16 s = 1 d.

I would phrase my answer as:

"3/16 stars equals one diamond."

Let S = Stars
Let C = Circles
Let D = Diamons
Let X = Ratio of Stars to Diamonds
1S = 4C
3C = 4D

x = SD

Cross Multiply
4/12
Divide by 3.
1/3.

I THINK that is correct, if not, I am sorry.

I think you're right... But it's been a few years since I've done algebra...

X=STAR
Y=CIRCLE
Q=DIAMOND

First, make the qty of Y match...
[3(1X=4Y)] = (3X=12Y)
[4(3Y=4Q)] = (12Y=16Q)

= 3X=12Y=16Q MEANS 3X=16Q MEANS 3:16 RATIO

Right?

if 1S=4C
3C=4D
than
1S=16/3D or 1D=3/16S
