What do people use Christmas tree mulch for? I see a pile of mulch free for anyone to use at the local park.

The decomposing mulch works great and is good for your garden. The fact that it's free is even better. People pay as much as 4.00 a bag for the stuff at the Home Centers.

Mulch is a plant based material used as a ground cover and fertilizer. As the mulch breaks down is releases its chemical makeup into the soil. Obviously this takes time, so regardless of nitrogen content it will not burn your plantings. Some people prefer mulches from evergreens in that they are less friendly to termites

Mulch is used for keeping your garden moist and weed free and you can put it around trees too . But you have to remove the grass first other Wise the grass will keep growing .Its customary to put the mulch 3 inches deep to keep weeds from growing .

Its just shredded up old trees. Its a way of recycling. you can use it just as you would regular mulch.

a side note though is that this mulch is probably not treated so you shouldnt put it near your home or any other structure as it will attract TERMITES!

Mulch keeps weeds from sprouting in flower beds. It's best to have it 4" thick. I think pine in OK.

I think it's just a way for people to get rid of the stuff with out paying for some disposal company to pick it up.

For weed control. It's acidic, and kills grass. It can also be used around azaleas and rhododendroms.
