read a book really fast the first time, like in a day, and then, you went back and read it slower, and realized that you read it too fast and missed some parts?
That happened to me. Lol =)
I read Harry Potter 7 in a day, and I think I read it too fast and I read some of it yesterday and a little today, and I just realized I missed a lot of the parts and I am just reading it, thinking "When did this happen?" lol =D
Has this ever happened to you?

That is how you are supposed to read:
Overview,
re-read until you know the story.
Any good book deserves to be read more than once.
I've read the first six Harry Potters six times each, the Bible every year for 20 years, Tolkien as much as Potter, CS Lewis repeatedly. Why else would you buy a book if not to read it again and again?

It happens ALL THE TIME.... I read at an already speedy level, as fast as I can without skimming, and then when I get to the climax, I get excited, and feel like I have to read even faster. Reading faster is not possible, and I end up skimming. This usually happens the first time I read something and don't know what happens next. Then I have to reread the book ad find all the stuff I missed the first time through (and sometimes the second or third...)

Some things can be read many times, and we can gather something more from it each time we read it. Really good literature can have many levels of meaning. Some children's books are very successful because they have a simple direct meaning to the child, and a deeper meaning that stimulates the parent.

NO ... I am a very fast reader - a book a day usually - but I definitely read for content - not a race to the finish. Enjoy your reading. Speed only matters if you're Danica Patrick. Pax - C

Just wait til you read it for the third, fourth and fifth times. My daughter has made it a point to re-read the entire series just prior to the release of the next book / movie and is constantly finding little bits that she missed previously.

Lol,, yeuh, many times.especially with Harry Potter and Twilight (series, by Stephenie Meyer). they rock, i read them quick and went back and im like....what? i didnt see that before! lol. no matter how good the book and how exciting it is, we should always go a bit slower to catch all the little details that may be important or interesting.

Yes. I re-read books a lot, especially if I liked them the first time.

Yes it has. Even re-reading a page and discovering something new makes me feel dumb the first time!
