If your car broke down on a Sunday night at 1am in a bad neighborhood and you needed to call a friend to get out of bed and come get you. Which of your friends wouldn't answer the phone, which friend would say no, which friend would do it and complain that you owed them big time and which friend would calm you down, call a tow truck, tell you they would be there in 20 minutes and get there in 10 and make sure to call you the next day to see if everything worked out okay? That last one. . . that's your true friend.

"A friend is one who walks in when others walk out."
-Walter Winchell

I think it is the test of time. When a friendship lasts through the ups and downs of your lives, and you can look back and see who was there for you in good times and bad, then you will know who has been true.

They say, to have a friend you need to be a friend. Maybe that is the way to find your true friends. When you are a true friend to them, they will hopefully respond in kind.

I learned a lot about being a friend from a book, The Friendship Factor, by Alan Loy McGinnis.

Good luck.

True friends have certain characteristics. They are the person you can call with a problem even if has been a number of months and you pick right up where you left off. Friends support you no matter what. Friends will drop what they are doing to be there for you in a bad time. Friends like these are hard to find---so if you have one, treasure him or her.

true friends are the ones that are there for you and support you through all the trials in life.
sadly there are no stores that sell friends. the best bet is to be a nice person to the people you meet and hopefully it would evolve into a great freindship. however always bear in mind that finding a true friend is hard.
