Counting from my LMP I will be 14 weeks on monday.
When I was 8 weeks I had an early ultrsound due to some bleeding, they didn't mention anything about dates. I had my doctor appointment the other day and she looked at the ultrasound and changed my due date which will make me 13 weeks on Tuesday.

Since a due date is only an estimate and can be 2 weeks out either way, is it really a big deal if I stick with my calculations. I like my original due date better (valentine's day LOL) and don't want to go back a week. I am so excited about this pregnancy and ready up every week how my bub is developing etc. I know that in the long run the doctor is right but sooner or later it's all gonna be the same or close enough Right?

Told you it was a stupid question!

Yeah go with whichever you like best. The bub is unlikely to be born the exact day anyway even the week prdicted especially if its your first! lol Your baby is the only one who knows for sure when it is going to be born! lol
Good luck with the pregnancy and a safe and healthy delivery!

Due dates truly are just estimates of when a baby may be born. I have 4 kids. 3 are old enough (28, 25, 22) that I never had an ultrasound with any of them. They were all born past their due dates (9 days, 11 days, and 5 days). Our youngest (now 10) was a surprise baby, conceived when I was on birth control pills for 11 years. Due to a lot of issues, among them being I was 38 and had Gestational Diabetes, I had 12 ultrasounds throughout the pregnancy so I was assured my due date was accurate despite the fact I thought I wasn't as far along as they thought I was (but who was I to arque with an ultrasound?). I didn't have a LMP to go by as I was having regular periods on the Pill. I was pregnant and didn't know I was. When I was 40 weeks (supposedly) there were absolutely no signs of impending labor. At 41 weeks, still no sign of labor. They gave me a prostaglandin gel insertion in hopes of softening my cervix enough to get things moving so as not to have to induce me at 42 weeks. I had a bad reaction to the gel with 6 minute contractions and baby's heart rate going extremely low. She only weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces (about a pound less than my other 3 and on the low side for a mom with GD). I had weekly ultrasounds and they predicted she weighed about 8 1/2 pounds at 40 weeks . My grandson will be 4 months old next week. My daughter's original due date was April 15. At one of her appointments, they changed the due date to April 26 based on an early ultrasound. Guess what, my grandson was born on April 15, his original due date! So, don't be so sure that the doctor is right. I don't think there is any harm in sticking with a Valentine's Day due date since it is just an estimate anyway. I don't think any sincere question is stupid. I used to think no question was stupid until I found Yahoo!Answers - then I saw some really stupid questions, but yours isn't one of them.

Not a stupid question at all. But if in your mind you are keeping track of your weeks by your calculations and not your doctor's it can confuse you. Since they usually schedule your appointments by weeks. Also all genetic testing and other significant tests are scheduled by what your expected due date is. (another good reason to just follow your doc.)

It's really cute that your original due date was Valentines day... but all you can do is hope that you have him/her on Valentines.
Best of Luck and congrats on the pregnancy.

Not a big deal if you want to keep the original date. Less than 1% of babies are born on their actual due date so if you feel better telling everyone you are due on valentines day I say go for it! No one will ever remember the due date they will only remember the day the baby actually came. :)

the dates that the doctor gave you could also be wrong. so the week isn't going to make that much of a difference. when you are further along they can more accurately predict when the baby is due. i'd say for your sanity, do what you want. if you wanna stick with your original dates, do so. by the end, you will know when it's time ;)

Would be close enough for me. Its not a stupid question either. I never understood why a Dr. would change a due date by a week or less.
Good Luck

There is never a stupid question because that's how we learn, by asking. It really doesn't matter about the due dates because baby is going to come when he or she is ready. I went a full ten months which was past my given due date, so it's up to baby.

Doesn't matter, because your body will go into labor when it wants too. Actually it's better to go with the 13 weeks, because they are less likely to induce prematurely.

Anyway, like you said, not a big deal, but congratulations on your pregnancy. I wish you the best luck ever!!!

Based on the difference betwn your LMP vs Uscan result, it's only 1 wk diff. By following your LMP date is still safe or either way. Go for what makes you and your bub...happy, nice, comfortable..... after all it makes the two of you.. partner.
