Oh, Good Lord, no! All of a sudden all the politicians are appalled at the deterioration of bridges across the nation. It's all smoke and mirrors. If the bridges need repairing, and they can't be repaired and maintained using the funds appropriated for that purpose (why not, I wonder?), then I suggest all politicians start by returning some of their actual salaries for the cause. Then they can provide even more by tapping into those sweet retirement packages they get. You know, a bridge collapsed and that was tragic, but what is also tragic is that with all the problems facing our country, our politicians go flying off on a tangent of poor roads and deteriorating bridges, and we are buying into it instead of telling them to sit down, shut up, and stick to the really important issues.

NO!! Oil companies are recording record profits and also paying record taxes. The welfare and safety of the general public is the government's responsibility, we shouldn't have to chew their food for them. Most bridges in my home state of Massachusetts are in poor condition, that issue's been address on several occasions prior to the bridge collapse, the problem is irresponsible politicians and reckless spending not a lack of funds or resources.

No...for one thing I am CONSTANTLY hearing how us Americans are consuming more and more fuel all the time.....which already equals MORE REVENUE.
It's just politics as usual....play on the publics fears on a particular issue to try to get MORE MONEY TO WASTE!
What we really need is better accountability of the funds that are already allocated to be spent.
Bet you didn't know that contractors get BIG BONUSES for getting some construction projects done ahead of schedule.
Now, what kind of CRAP is this.....Bonuses......what a waste of already tight funds for roadwork that needs to be done.
So more projects keep taking the back burner over and over.
Have you noticed in recent years how asphalt repaving jobs seem to be crumbling up even faster than they used to?
Seems like accountability of the quality of materials needs to be addressed as well. The taxpayer keeps getting screwed more and more.........

No i wouldn't. I mean it would be for a good cause, but gas is already so much already. A lot of people have families and can't keep spending $40 on one full tank of gas. I mean when my parents started driving gas was only like 10 cents. Gas is too much.

I think bridges are the responsibility of the state, not the federal government.

Instead of raising taxes, we need to know where our current taxes are going and why they are not being used properly.

Of course not. They simply have to re-allocate funds. The US government is taking in so much money right now they can't spend it fast enough.

Yes, I would also support a higher tax to pay off the deficit we have recently built up
