"When you have a President who is so unpopular...it really reflects poorly on Congress. None of [the approval ratings] are real high and we acknowlege that, but most of it relates to the unpopularity of the President."

If I understand this correctly he is blaming Bush because the Democrats are unpopular?

The Zogby poll cited in the article shows Congress with a 14% approval rating, much worse than the 34% that Bush is blessed with.

Yes, you do understand correctly.

What's even stranger is that Chuck Schumer said "the American people are demanding change. The one thing standing in the way is the Republicans in the Senate." He blames the low approval ratings on Republicans. Of course, he forgets Democrats make up more than half of Congress.

well... hmm... is there some truth to that? most people I know don't really even know what the President and Congress do... they just see it all as "government"...

and the president is the main face of the government... always has been...

I wonder... has there ever been a congress with a high approval rating while the president has a poor one? (maybe Nixon, but that's a unique situation if you ask me)... this could prove or disprove his point...

but I'm too lazy to look into it... someone else can go crazy if they want too...

Of course. Everything is Bushes fault except that the economy is excellent considering all that has happened to the country in the last eight years. Bush was elected at the most inopportune time in history and has done a fair job of holding things together and making advances. If he would close the borders I would be more than satisfied I would be a fan.

Yes, he did, but why does it surprise you? Here are some more tasteful comments from that corrupt a$$hole.

"We're going to pick up Senate seats as a result of this war. Senator Schumer has shown me numbers that are compelling and astounding." Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), speaking to reporters, April 12, 2007

"This war is lost." Reid, April 19, 2007

When even Al-Qaeda quotes him in their propaganda and uses him as an example you wonder what he really stands for (see link). Oh, and before people go off the handle with me, I'm not a republican. I'm a libertarian who can see what a steaming pile of monkey crap Harry Reid really is.

But remember, Democrats only hold the majority in the Senate by 1, and in the House by a dozen or so. Republicans are still in Congress. It's not just the Democrats faults.

And I agree with Harry Reid. Congress is looking bad because Bush has vetoed everything they've tried to accomplish.

Yes, and he is correct when he blames Bush for the low approval rating for Congress. Bush has exposed the Democrats and allowed us all to see how dishonest, hateful, and treasonous they are.

Harry Reid has the IQ of a marble.

A man like him not realizing each statement like that drops the approval rating of Congress a full point.

I'm so happy I want to hug somebody!

No dearie .You have a reading comprehension problem. All the polls showing low numbers for Congress are just that, LOW NUMBERS FOR CONGRESS and NOT LOW NUMBERS FOR DEMOCRATS .

What he did say was that because Bush's crime against humanity in Iraq is so unpopular and because the REPUBLICANS IN CONGRESS CONTINUE TO GIVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THE FINGER IN THEIR REFUSAL TO CARRY OUT THE PEOPLE'S WILL,AMERICANS ARE CONDEMNING CONGRESS ONLY BECAUSE OF THE REPUBLICANS.

I see you are as good at SPINNING garbage as your hero Bush is.

Come on,tell us Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and Iraq was responsible for 9/11.

Sure. Blame Bush. It works often enough to get away with it.

The Democrats are unpopular because all they do is try to block President Bush's agendas. The public sees through their schemes, hence the lowest (perhaps ever) Congress rating.
