I can't wait to hear what the Dems. have to say after the 'surge evaluation' comes out in Sept. I'm sure they will be eating their words, as usual. Things like they have always supported the war, and President Bush.

A key component of the January plan was that there be political progress in Iraq. Last week, the chief lawmaking body in Iraq went into recess until September without accomplishing much of what U.S. leaders had hoped they would.

Levin, while saying military progress was being made, said the troop build-up could not be considered a success because its purpose was to make way for political reconciliation, and that hasn't happened.

Just because we didn't lose as many troops this month doesn't mean a thing. The "terrorists" will probably just go crazier after reading the "We're Winning!" headlines. Let's see how next month goes.

I don't speak for all Democrats but, I am happy to sound off on this issue. No, I am not changing my tune on the war, I want us out yesterday. I don't care how "good" the news is coming out of Iraq and I don't care how anyone spins the story over there I will still feel that it's a wast of time, money, energy and lives.

Funny, the link you gave had a picture of Prime Minister Maliki holding hands with Ahmadinejad, while the largest Sunni party bails out of the government coalition.

What do we win?

Define "we"
Define "winning"

I am neither a 'democrat' nor a 'republican'.
I am a citizen born and bred in the USA.
I am a professional who has a brilliant career.
I am a voracious eater of information.
I am a thinker.
I am a listener.

Everything I have witnessed regarding the definition of what an 'American' is has lead me to realize that we are a wounded and bitter nation of losers.

You rally behind those who destroy our great country bit by bit, then point fingers at those who think, listen, observe and react.

Look at American History in this period 20 years from now and you will see that nothing about this time will reflect good on us. You who clap and cheerlead for this failed president are the string quartet on the deck of the Titanic.

May your "God" have pity on you and your meaningless lives.

they are just saying the soldiers are doing a good job for the most part... that's what they have always said?

the soldiers "win" in the areas they are in and have since the war began...

it's the fact they can't be everywhere at once and poor overall strategy that's turned this into a bad situation...

we stabilize an area, move on... that area becomes destabilized again while we're stabilizing another area... is that "winning"?

Not really. Think of it more as a re-mix. Same basic message "we support the troops" "down with the war" "Bush lied, to force us to vote for the war" etc... but with the base turned up a little.

Gee too bad you didn't read the entire article.

"The only hope is if they take the responsibility onto themselves and we end the open-ended military commitment," Levin, of Michigan, said Sunday on CNN's "Late Edition."

Everyone supports the great job the American solders are doing. No one in their right mind supports the incompetent who sent them there.
