What the hell is it? I live in Oregon and last night a huge large brown beetle which made a musical like scream, (creepy) flew through my room bouncing off the walls into her room. LOL and at first I didn't see it until my daughter hunted it down cause it was in her room.lOL And when I saw this thing it was screaming because my wienner dog was trying or atleast thinking about tackling it, but after I saw thing I chased her away from it, I caught it and threw it out. But very curious to know what it was for I have never seen or heard noises like that before.

Sounds like a bark beetle or a cicada or scarab

It's probably a cicada (based on your description). I'm in Minnesota, and from the sound outside my window this afternoon they came out today sometime.

They won't hurt you, and they only live a few days. They live underground, come out to reproduce, and die. The babies live underground for 17 years before they come out, so I hate to kill them -- I mean, all that time and then we squash them... that's just sad! Plus, I kind of like the sound. And the cats seem to keep them out of the house all right.

They feed on tree and make noises at night and come out from the trees and fly around. When they are the day light they die cause the light kills them. so they sleep in the day light times. And yes they are scary looking.

Might be a June bug. Florida has something even bigger -- palmetto beetles.
