I'm assured that it is quite innocent but I've never heard of it. Does anybody have any background on it???

I'm a Texas Lady. When I was a little bitty girl some of my uncles would say to me. Come here little one, let me give you a Yankee dime. I would then get a kiss on the cheek or forehead.
I would like to know the origin of that saying ??
Does anyone know??
Did it perhaps come out of the civil war ??

Why couldn't I have asked that & other question while those Dear ones where still alive ??
If there is anything you want to know about youself, and your history, ask it now, of ones still living. Once they are gone, so is the information, they could have & would have enjoyed giving to you.
I have no relatives living that are older than me now.~~~jill
Thanks Sarge for this great question. I was mixed up.
Oh well.~~~God Bless everyone of you out there~~~

Hey Sweety!
I am pretty sure this isn't the "Yankee Kiss" you had in mind, but wanted to share it with you anyway!.....hmmm

Ingredients for a
Yankee Kiss

1 cup premium vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup bourbon
1 teaspoon vanilla
freshly grated nutmeg

Directions
Combine ice cream, bourbon and vanilla in blender and process until smooth. Pour into glasses and sprinkle with nutmeg. Top with a marachino cherry!
Yield: 2 servings

Sorry, Sarge. I have no clue what this expression means. Now, being from the South...I can creatively come up with an answer...but, I won't!

If a kid wore glasses when I was a kid he was called four eyes. I wore glasses and was called four eyes all the time. It was not done in meanness it was just a pet nickname. When I got to high school my nickname changed to Professor. All in good humor.
