About 2 weeks after my wife left, I realized that she's not coming back. I removed my wedding ring. Be prepared to answer questions from people that don't know you have separated.
BTW-It's been a year and the indentation in my ring finger has not yet gone away.

I removed it the day after my (now ex) husband told me he wanted a divorce. Him telling me he wanted a divorce and walking out made me take the step to remove it. I didn't want to look back, I wanted to start picking up the pieces and looking forward. Replace it with a different ring. Good luck.

The day my husband left me i took them off and throw them both across the room they haven't been on my left finger ever again even though we are back together. Those rings i feel presence a bad time in our marriage. When we got back together we took our vows over again along with a new set of wedding rings. Why keep something that didn't work,if the rings are that important to you just put them on your right finger.

I removed mine the minute I knew he didn't want to even try reconciliation (he cheated after 11 years marriage)...Which was only about 2 weeks after I found out he cheated...I missed my ring too, so I went out and bought myself a nice sapphire diamond ring (not horribly expensive) and wear it on that ring. I couldn't wear that ring anymore knowing the marriage was over.

If YOU think there is no hope, take the ring off for good...if you think there might be a chance, let your husband know this, and let him see you still have the ring on....and work on something you know might be worth keeping....I think you can settle with your husband, and don't take the easy way out, by running away from it all....
There is nothing that bad in life to make you both break up from each other......Trust me!!!!

it is a personal thing if its just not having a ring on that finger , feeling stranger go buy yourself a ring you like and wear it. my self when i knew it was over for good i took it off. after 21 yrs. it seems strange. i tried another ring but i done better no ring. i knew their was no chance of reconciliation. but, you have to do what your heart says there is no book on when to remove the ring.

I removed mine the moment that I knew that it really was over. If you know that there is no chance for reconcilliation then it will help you to move on by removing it. Your finger will feel weird for a while but you will get used to it.

I removed mine as soon as my husband moved out and we filed for divorce; the missing ring thing bothered me, too, so I went out and bought a birthstone ring for myself to wear on that finger. It works for me.

When I knew in my heart that my marriage was over. But there is still a ring around my heart. To love someone enough to marry. There will always be a special place there.
