Of course but that isnt saying much. Every time the government is involved in spending money it is wrought with either fraud, waste or abuse- nothing new there.

If you can see it, "Iraq's Missing Billions" is a very good and eye-opening documentary. It follows an Iraqi doctor's efforts to track down money that was supposed to be spent on reconstruction:
"What happened to the billions of dollars of Iraqi reconstruction money entrusted to the American Coalition? In just fourteen months, the CPA burned its way through nearly $20 billion."

- Also on YouTube, in six parts:

-- If you can't view the video, but have satellite TV, you can see it starting this Sunday night on LINK TV (Direct TV, channel 375). It's airing as an episode of the "Spotlight" program. Here's the schedule:

of course... how can 300 Million -- yes, $300,000,000 -- dollars be spent EVERY DAY without some fleecing going on. It is a fact that Halliburton ripped $67 million in gasoline overcharges. How much more is Halliburton and other contractors ripping off?

SOME of the money????? Try about 50-60%.
Hallburton/KBR is charging $30 to do 1 bag of laundry for a US soldier.
They are charging $30 per meal made (not necessarily served), 3x per day.
Halliburton/KBR are shipping new trucks and SUVs to Iraq purposely minus the spare tire. Therefore, if the truck blows a tire, they destroy it to keep it out of enemy hands, then charge Uncle Sam for a new truck.
I guarantee that it would be much cheaper for US soldiers to pay a local lady to do their laundry (like US soldiers have done in previous wars) and it would be much cheaper to have US army cooks and kitchen staff make all the meals.
And I guarantee it would be much easier to equip all vehicles going to Iraq with spare tires than to purchase new vehicles everytime one blows a tire.

We know it is. Not just money, weapons as well.
corruption is a way of life in the middle-east.
they don't even see it as corruption, if you have power then you get to skim some of the cream off the top.

Of course it is. Funny that Haliburton still is unable to fix the Iraqi oil meters. Oil is going out but we just don't know how much!
And funny that govt link regarding oil legislation has disappeared.

Some of it? From the amount of $$ already spent compared to the progress (or total lack of) in Iraq, what would be your guess?

The non partisan GAO says we've lost billions in cash and material. We have effectively lost enough guns to arm our enemies all by ourselves. Way to Go Team Bush.
