I asked a question on where should I move to if I go Atlanta, while the majority of people say the North is safer and stay away from the south. I looked at demographics of the area and it turns out North ATL has a higher percentage of caucasians and South has a larger population of black people. The stats for Washington D.C are also the same, the North East and South East -more blacks..deemed a high crime area... while the North WEst and South West have more caucasians and it is called safer, based on my internet research. Is this just some form of stigma for these and most other cities? Because where I live now, is deemed a high crime part of FL of course there are more blacks, but I feel totally safe and have been incident free since being here. So what's the deal?

i actually only came to USA 4 years ago, never dealt with racism, never had discrimination before, never thought about it, until stuff started happening to me when i came here...i actually had quite a culture shock at how races here treat each other, at how towns, schools and most all are segregated, its quite sad.
yeah i know some would say go back home, i'd like to, it's just not feasible at this point in time.

And its not just black on white racism, now there is black on black haters as far as I can tell. IF you a you black person you suppose to be in a pimped out car, love hiphop , been in jail at least one time and smoke we*d.And if you don't and you just trying to make it and get educated and get a real job..its like oh you turning to a white boy now. America has some serious issues.

This has nothing to do with an answer being "racially motivated" and everything to do with the sad circumstances in this country. It's just a fact that most- not all- black neighborhoods are not as safe as most- not all- white neighborhoods. I lived in a not-so-safe neighborhood in Las Vegas for 5 years. It was a mixture of lower income people- which I was then- and had a lot of drug activity. I didn't have a car and had to walk to work, to the mall, grocery store, etc and never had an incident- I just looked straight ahead and minded my own business. Anyway, I'm in no way, shape or form "prejudiced" or have any reason to say anything negative about anyone- I'm from a minority group, too. It's just a fact.

There are 2 reasons I can think of.

Most high crime areas are low income because most people who can afford to move to a safer neighborhood do so. Unfortunately, in the US, blacks still have lower average incomes and wealth than whites.

Second, the "Snitches Get Stitches" mentality isn't as ingrained into white culture as it is into black culture.

You found the demographics for the 2 cities on the internet. You can also find the crime statistics by neighborhood on the internet as well.

I live in Ventura, California, and it's one of the safest towns I've ever lived in. All three of the black people that live in this town enjoy it as well, although two of them are living in a retirement home.

:)

You are asking a very dangerous question, and the odds are high that you will get a lot of racially biased answers that are based on bigoted assumptions rather than actual facts, so be prepared.

However, rather than stepping in this large pile of equine fecal matter that you've disguised as a question myself, I am instead just going to watch it from the sidelines. I wish you the best in finding a palatable answer to your complicated question.

Good luck! :)
