The "Star Note" is just the "back-up" for the original $1 with the same serial number. For example, there could have been a printing problem or the bill could have been off center so it was destroyed and it's back-up was instead of a letter, given a star........i.e. serial # A57688768 had smeared ink on it so a back up of *A57688768 was printed and released....not bad to have in your collection

The series 1957 star note sells for $6 in grade very fine and $14 in choice crisp uncirculated. These are trends values and dealers pay less.
