I live in one myself and when other people around me are worrying about floating away with a lot of rain, I am sitting three feet off the ground and my feet aren't wet. I have it fixed up inside just like a normal house. I do a lot of my own home improvements and repairs and maintenance. Mine looks quite presentable and not trashy. That is what makes the difference. Just because it's cheaper than a regular house, doesn't mean it has to be trashy.

Well, along time ago they were considered cheap and the people who lived in them were stereotyped. Truly they were not particularly well built with paper thin walls, bad layout, and cheesy skirting, but they have come a long way. Before I purchased my house I looked at today's Mobil homes that sell for $80-$100 thousand dollars and I was amazed at how they have evolved. You can even have the put them on permanent solid foundations. The walls contain wood and are of a regular thickness. The layouts are beautiful. Some don't even look like trailers. Anyhow, my point is that I think they are nice along with the majority of people who live in them. I lived in a double wide when I was a kid in a trailer park. It was nice, a lot nicer than a lot of apartments. We had a pool and a club house and a large park in a friendly neighborhood setting.

I know people make fun of them (at least they make fun of trailer parks), but I don't think they are that bad. I have relatives who lived out in the country in trailer homes.

Living in Florida and seeing how many get wiped out,
I'd never live in one here!
Maybe if I lived somewhere else!
